What were the handicap gaps last night between the groups?

And a related question - do those gaps fluctuate much week to week?
Are they based on group size, circuit...?

Yes they do. (not by much though)

They depend on the circuit, no's in each group etc.

What a great race. Group 4 worked so well, with everyone doing their bit. So important to work together in the wind.

Thanks to all the organisers again. Swords League, perhaps the best race league in the country?

Just a comment. Could you please let us know if you are moving the finish line. Group 4 thought it was finishing on the flat section before the bridge. Scratch thought it was finishing up on the hill.

    Looking forward to Garristown.

I thought it was said just before the start that the finish was further than usual, up on the fly over.

Edit to say: I may have just overheard another conversation between to other racers. (not that I listen to other peoples conversations, as a rule)

    Good Point.

The Winner came out with us last Tuesday evening on the Circuit intro. His knowledge of the finish obviously paid off! :)

Have a question about riding through doing your turn in the club league.

I take it as given that when the up and over chain breaks down the guy in second spot comes around to start the chain again.

When stronger groups catch slower groups or people who have been dropped from groups the 'slower' riders can either sit on if the pace is too high of ride through and do their turns. Now to the question - where should the riders not wiling to do their turns position themselves?

The natural racing instinct is to be as near the front as possible but in a club league i think they should sit at the back of the group and try and not interfere with the up and over rhythm. Riders not willing to do their turn sitting high up in a group can wreck the up and overs as they repeatedly break the 'up'.

Maybe this could be brought up in the into spins?

I had a word with a few that were doing just that the last few weeks,it makes it so much harder when the rider in front of you moves across when they get to within 2 or 3 from the front leaving a gap for you to close before you even get to the front,it does indeed brake the rhythm of the line
If you feel you need to miss a turn for what ever reason your place is at the back out of the way of the working line and their will be times we all need a brake
But keep in mind in the club CPs no matter how bad your feeling its probably better to be in the line and go over the top not forgetting to ease of to let the next person through rather than being at the back where the speed is constantly changing

Please note, tomorrow's race has been changed from 3 laps to 2 laps. This is due to the available daylight and the fact that the new circuit is slightly longer.

If I turn up tomorrow and as is the case, have only one ring available to me on the back block (will probably try and set it in the 14-15 so i can switch between the 53x14 and the 39x14) is there any chance of going in the 2nd group.Im f@!kin itching to do a race but im still waiting on delivery of a new rear shifter. If not im just gonna head out on my own. By the way last year i went in group 4 for 1 or 2 races.

Well based on samacca's post earlier in the thread, as we are all claiming not to know you, you're in scratch

Of course, I should be allowed into Group 1 in case my Di2 battery runs out and leaves me in single speed mode;)

So you aint got gears but have a brake  or if you've no shifter at the moment then you aint got a brake, right.

Unfortunately a penchant for sausage, pizza and beer coupled with an in ability to consume as many drugs as his competitors was his downfall....

Just to let everyone know and to ensure there is no ambiguity going forward. Swords League Races are run as CP's unless advised prior to the race. CP's or "Competition Pace" races require all persons in the group to contribute and work as a team to catch the limit group, without being caught by the scratch group)
There will be group referees in all groups from this week on and there will be yellow cards issued for the following: Unsporting behavior/riding, Dangerous Riding and Crossing the white line. ( " wheel suckers " comes under the heading of Unsporting Behavior, if you are not prepared to work with your group the Swords League does not want you !).
We want to promote good hard and safe racing and everyone will be told in blunt terms prior to the race.

Should have noted the most important point: 2 yellow cards and you are out of the league for the rest of the season.

I wont be racing club league so you can have a lend of my bike.
It comes equipped with superior Campag equipment.
This means you are running outta excuses.

We've a new leader in the club league.

I'm missing a few names as I couldn't read some of the sign-on sheets.

If there is anyone reading this who has taken part in the Swordscc league....PM me if you don't see your name, or if I've mis-spelled it on the results sheet.

    cheers

    Great idea's there.

A good friend always said if he can't ride through he'll hang on as long as possible but would be too embarrassed to contest the sprint...
