    Found this on the HB
Walter Smith speaking about a Rangers move to a European or Atlantic League, October 2009:

"Scottish football can survive without the Old Firm first teams. It will mean other clubs have a chance to be successful.

"When I say the Old Firm leaving to join an Atlantic League, I don't exclude other Scottish clubs from having that chance.

"The team that wins the SPL could step up and, possibly, represent Scotland in the Champions League. If Rangers and Celtic were playing in the Atlantic League and Aberdeen win the SPL, then I think there could be a play-off to get into the Atlantic League for the next season.

"Even under this scenario the Old Firm would still have a presence in Scotland .

"Probably their teams would have to start in the lower divisions and work their way up. I fear for Scottish football if we don't change."

"Despite all the joy that a lot of people might be taking at the situation that Rangers are in, no-one - especially in the SPL - wants to see Rangers leave with the support they carry and the amount of money they bring to the league itself.

"The sanctions they have given would, in my mind, put them in danger of relegation and every club in the league would suffer then."

Nice 'journalism' from Cowan there

Tell me, when did he ever ask questions about Murray's spending when everything was nice and dandy at Ibrox ?

Oh, that's right, he was too busy sucking up to him.

As for those two quotes from Smith: Changed times.

There were talks about setting up that Atlantic League, and Rangers were being looked at to join it, so of course he's going to say that it would be a good thing.

Wally Smith changes his vested interest & perspective, "thats ok"

Tam Cowan changes his vested interest & perspective, "Why didnt he warn us!"

If he did do a damning report of Murray during his day in charge, would anyone have listened to the warnings? I very much doubt it because ye wouldnt listen to the warnings even before the bank was running the club nor when Whyte crawled out from under his rock.

Oh, aye, I'm sure that's why he never 'warned' us.

Two totally different things as well, but whatever.

Are you going to use the "they never warned us" excuse with all the hacks that write a damning article about Rangers? Or are you going to use other excuses when you cant argue with their article?

You seem to fail to understand what I'm saying.

Idiots like Cowan are too happy to put the boot in, claiming Rangers fans should direct their anger at Murray instead of at the SFA.

This when they themselves totally ignored how Murray's spending sprees were financed, never asking questions, just lapping up the headlines and attention it could provide them with.

He seems to be oblivious of the fact though that all Rangers fans are fully aware of Murray's stake in this.

It's not even a real article to pick apart, it reads like some raving lunatic's blog.

lol at anyone calling Cowan a Journalist.

A comedian, a resturaunt critic, and a football fan with a pen.

It is a raving lunatics blog but he's right. They all lapped it up, they arent your moral or ethical compass, they arent anyway responsible for Rangers lack of corporate governance for over a decade. People were warning Rangers for years that the numbers didnt add up but it was the wrong people telling you of course.

What point of his is wrong exactly? He's gotten the nail on the head whether you like it or not.

Usually, you protest about equality and fairness etc. You dont protest because you're not getting favouritism

    And STV say 10.000.
I heard the organisers estimated it around the 7000 mark, pretty good for something that was organised on short notice.

    Police saying 7k.

lol at "Poor Turnout" given that the police had estimated around 5 hundred, and the whole thing was only organised three days ago - i'd say that's pretty excellent.

How many "Final and Best" bids can the Blue Knights make? Do they not understand the meaning of the term?

Good turnout in the short space of time. Should organise a massive one though and do it over a long period of time to get the word out.

The supporters do have time. But this was a good turnout. I see no reason to think the club will be liquidated for at least the next few months.

Fair enough if your happy with that. tbh i was expecting up to 20,000.

7,000? Celtic Park got something similar the night Robbie Keane was signed on loan.

me too, but they should be protesting outside Ibrox at what the Rangers board and administrators are doing to the club rather than the SFA for doing their job.
