So do I. Seems they are intent on strengthening the midfield.
M'Vila and Banega heavily linked too.

If he isn't at Anfield, I'll make it mission to hunt you down for getting my hopes up... assuming Kess doesn't beat me to the punch :p

Belhanda was the star player tonight, hopefully they took notice of him too. Either him or Sissoko would be fantastic signings!

Just like that, this was tweeted( by a reliable French source I'll just add).....
KENNY DALGLISH SCOUTS TOP FRENCH TALENT

On Friday night as Montpellier took a five point lead in the race for the French championship there were a few notable scouts in the stands at the Stade Municipal as various clubs keep tabs on their summer targets. Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish and assistant Steve Clark , Giles Grimandi of Arsenal and Bayern Munich’s General Manager Christian Nerlinger all made the trip to Toulouse, fans will be wondering who the respected clubs will be monitoring.

Arsenal’s interest in Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud is well known as is the scouting of Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue. It would be very surprising if Arsene Wenger didn’t make a bid for at least one of them this summer. The interest from Liverpool is a little more secretive. In the past there has been interest in Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko but the Frenchman’s form hasn’t been very impressive this season, so a bid from Liverpool would be quite suprising.

Dalglish’s attention would certainly have been drawn towards Ligue 1′s top striker Olivier Giroud. With 20 league goals this season the former Tours forward has enjoyed a wonderful season in the south of France and interest in the 25-year old has come from most of Europe’s top teams.

Montpellier are close to securing Champions League football this season, the chances of the forward passing up the chance of playing in Europe’s premier club competition are very remote. However there was plenty of other talent on show that messes Dalglish and Clark could have been monitoring.

Playmaker Younes Belhanda has been in superb form of late, and a large bid from Liverpool could see Rene Girard without his Moroccan superstar next season. Moves for defenders Mapou Yanga-M’Biwa and Henri Bedimo could also be possibilities. From the home side there is no doubt that Etienne Capoue would have caught the Scotsmans eye, along with left-footer Franck Tabanou. Tabanou has a devastating left-foot and is well regarded as one of France’s up and coming talents.

With so many talented players on view it is hard to narrow down what players Dalglish would like to bring to Anfield this summer. After the success that Alan Pardew and Newcastle have enjoyed this season it is no surprise to see one of England’s big names keeping an eye on the talent Ligue 1 has to offer.

One of us will get him regardless if we feel let down :D

Belhanda and Sissoko sounds nice actually.

Imagine the two of them and Lucas playing in the centre of a 4-3-3 formation.

Lucas and Sissoko providing the muscle, graft and defensive side of things.

Belhanda and, to a lesser degree, Sissoko proving the offensive threat.

    Belhanda pulling strings.

Plus all three are well able to tackle.

M'Vila and Banega heavily linked too.

Reports coming from Ouest newspaper (Rennes local paper) suggesting that he's close to moving to Arsenal for between £16 and £20 million.

With recent links to Bayern and Inter, dunno how attractive and option we'd be in comparison.

If Arsenal are in for Giroud then we can kiss that idea goodbye.

Bayern supposedly in for Giroud too.
I doubt he was the player being looked at.
Capoue, Abdennour and Yanga-Mbiwa are other possibles too IMO

Would be an awesome addition. He is already an excellent player despite only being 21. A powerhouse of a defensive player with excellent skills.

Has made himself a regular in the French national side as well. Would not be cheap but damn he would add serious steel to our midfield.

Banega would be no bad purchase either.

One from Sissoko and M'Vila along with one from Belhanda and Banega please Kenny. :D

That was my paper of choice when I lived in France and Rennes were my local Ligue 1 club :)

I'd say Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and a couple of Italian clubs are all looking at M'Vila and possibly Man Utd too.

I really like M'Vila too. He'd be my number one choice for midfield.

We're getting in to fantasy football here though possibly.

Maybe, but it is always nice to dream of getting some of the genuine up and coming players. Especially when the ones mentioned in the last hour or so would all appear to be easily good enough for our first team despite their young ages.

Moussa Sissoko would be far from a fantasy football purchase though, and I think atm Belhanda and Banega would be gettable also.

M'Vila would be expensive to buy, well by expensive he would be in the Downing/Henderson price bracket, but I reckon he will have caught the eye of far more attractive clubs than us at present.

Have not watched it in years. Why was Gerry Ryan's daughter on & why was Tubridy trying to make her cry...?

I made sure not to watch (not that I'd watch the LLS anyway) as my embarrassment threshold is very low.

No idea as I don't watch the show. Gerrard being on it is not reason enough for me to want to listen to Tubridy pretending to have interview skills/be an intellectual/not be a pipe cleaner.

I find it amazing the kind of utter rubbish that trotted out as prime time chat shows.

I had it on in the background while I was playing poker.Anyway Gerrard gave a good interview even if the questions were crap.

Thought he was very good...thought he was very quite on league of their own, but showed more of himself on late late...

interview was all very predictable... say was straight from gerrards and lfc's wiki page.

Mikel Arteta wasn't first choice for Arsenal right at the start of the season. These things do change over the course of a season. You have Evans, Kalou, Cisse, Allen, Holt, McClean, and many more.

Yes, Carra was 1st choice right at the start, but since his injury he's clearly been a bench choice, except in the derby for whatever reason.

Was gonna leave a comment about the "discussion" you chimed in on. Deleted it instead. But seriously guys, Carragher is first choice, no he is not, well he was at the start of the season and would've been if he didnt get injured, but he did get injured and hasnt gotten back in the team since, well he would still be first choice if he didn't get injured, no he wouldn't be, yes he would be, agger played left back to accomadate carra, blah blah blah....why people?? Just why?? What do ye hope to achieve with this garbage?? My god people, it's like listening to my 6 year old nephews arguing!! Jeez!! All of you invloved in this go to the naughty step and think about what you have done...(and that's the PG version of the post I deleted)

i got the feeling that Gerrard didn't want to get dragged into that...

it's a shame. would have been a nice chance to educate some of the irish watching.

So its cool to not like the Late Late Show these days, my opinion of all of you skyrocketed

Id have expected a similar type interview if he was on any other mainstream interview show, the LLS has + 900,000 viewers ffs , what do you expect Tubridy to do - ask cutting edge tactical/net spend/andy carroll questions or cater for the hundreds of thousands of people who have no clue whatsoever about LFC. I enjoyed the interview & i thought Stevie came across very well tbh

It is a shyte show imho. Comes across as a show for boggers or the over 50's. A person would want to be some right idiot to think that disliking a shyte show makes them coo in any wayl.

If RTE want to say that close to a million people watch it, then that is up to them. But I doubt that 1 in ever 4 or so people in the country stays in to watch that show every Friday. But given that the tv viewing figures in this country are far from accurate I guess RTE can say whatever they like to justify mediocre shows and even more mediocre presenters.

As for how Gerrard came across, well I would be surprised if he did not come across well as he is quite good with the media and very experienced in dealing with them. He could probably do a low level interview with the likes of Tubridy in his sleep.
