1)Going into administration and eventually finding a buyer...?

    or

    2)Coming maybe 8th in the PL and having 1 possibly 2 trophy's..?
We were on the brink of oblivion a couple of years ago make no mistake about it.

We had Hicks and Gillett running the club into the ground. With Christian Purslow undermining the manger at every oppoptunity.

Two trophies would represent success. Yes Champs League is great but in who remembers multiple seasons in the Champs League under Benitez? we all remember winning the FA Cup in 2006 and Champs League in 2005 as clear as anything.

Winning the Carling and FA Cup is great, but 4th is much much more important.

Do you think Torres, Alonso or Reina would have joined us had we finished 8th but won the FA Cup and Carling cup?

Quality players want CL football. Our job this summer is going to be difficult, cause not only do we have to complete with a host of European clubs for signatures, there are now at least 6 more English clubs that are more attractive than us.

Lack of CL football is making it difficult for us to get top quality players, which in turn is making it difficult for us to compete for 4th. It's imperative we get 4th ASAP, or we will become a mid table club (maybe we already are).

I remember players like Reina, Alonso, Mash and Torres, all arguably one of the best in their positions at one stage while playing for Liverpool. You think they would have joined us had we not been qualifying for CL year after year?

Um me!? I would of assumed others would be the exact same. Those nights were epic. Whatever anyone says about Benitez, some are too quick to dismiss what he did for us.

Juventus? Madrid? Chelsea (multiple matches) the list goes on.

I miss looking forward to Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Anfield on champions league nights is something I will never forget.

If Chelsea win the FA cup and don't win the cl the moments I'm going to remember are the matches against Valencia, Napoli and Barcelona at the Bridge, welcoming Ballack back to London, getting a first look at De Bruyne, and the nerves I felt before the above matches. I'm dreading not being in the cl next year, not because of the damage it does to our income or our prestige, but because its the best soccer to watch. Tuesday and Wednesday are my highlights of the season, cl produces some of the best moments (some of our best being against Liverpool).

Masch did join West Ham though!!

Alonso joined us after a bad spell under Houllier aswell when we were playing atrocious football and only for Owen's form we would've been midtable. Do you think any of them players would have joined us had Rafa Benitez not being here though?

People forget we're Liverpool. Players don't and won't forget us after a couple of bad years, it's the instability that makes us unattractive.

Do people think Juventus are a small club after their 5 years on the edge?

can we get a sticky of liverpool clichés like this one in a sticky, and infractions for all who mention them...

this thread is really really really really really really really repetitive.

2nd to 17th mean feck all to me tbh.

Would you prefer to finish 4th next season or in the bottom half with a cup treble?

If you would rather the cups then I'd question if you really care about the club's best interests.

Absolutely. I'm proud of the cup run, but Champions League football is where its at.

    Absolutely.

I can barely watch CL football anymore, absolutely sick that we aren't playing in it.

I can't argue with any of that but I hope that hasn't been the case Chucky.

I understand why he went for the cups this year, but in future it has to stop. The fact we lost Lucas because of the Carling Cup is extremely annoying. If we play our main players in the CC next year I'd be very annoyed whoever the manager is.

You'd want to fix your memory tbh. I'd easily give up that FA cup win just to have another crack at Chelsea in Standford Bridge or Milan in the final.

In two weeks I'm bringing my 10 year old to Wembley. This is his first cup final, and if we win it will be a day he never forgets.

My mate supports spurs, and I guarantee that he won't be reminising with his son in 10 years about the time spurs finished 4th.

Yes the league form is sh/t, but I've seen enough to suggest if we have a good summer, then the issues we have can be rectified. is kenny the man to sort it, I'm not sure, but I'm willing to give him my faith for another season if I have to.

2nd to 17th mean feck all to me tbh.

My opinion is old fashioned because I want my team to win trophies? Laughable.

All in all I'm gutted we're not going to be in the Champions' League but I'm delighted we're doing so well in the domestic cups.

I realise this isn't acceptable to a lot of you, what with it not being absolute or extreme in any way. But I'm fine with it.

    Exactly.
Of course I want CL football but I want my teams winning trophies.

That's the opinion of a fan of a mid-table club. I understand that that is exactly where Liverpool are atm but surely as a fan you hope your club would aspire to more.

Surely top four and a few good European nights is worth a few FA Cups. Success isn't measured by the FA Cup anymore. Modern football has destroyed the FA Cup. Sure it's a fantastic trophy to win. But it's blatently second tier. The league and the Champions' League is where it's at and has been for the last 10 years.

Don't get me wrong; I was on beige alert when we lost to Arsenal and Sunderland and lost our chances of a top 4 finish, but I was on the edge of my fence for the shootout in the League Cup final and when I think how me might do in the FA Cup final, well, my gut says 'maybe'. If Kenny Dalglish knocked on my door tomorrow, I'd tell him a firm, 'hello'.*

ya im assuming its BS i dont think that design would make the cut in reality.

I doubt any designer would go with such a manky colour scheme.

Where were the boo boys when we were £350 million in debt....?nowere because we were running good in the PL.They are a superficial bunch of selfish cnuts. You need to look deeper into things, sometimes things are ok on the face but rotten inside. Then other times they are ok on the inside and look rotten from the outside.

We are 2 weeks form a cup final, get behind the team The Liverpool way and in the summer we will look back at things when the time is right.

Bollocks. As long as the team gets supported when and where it counts, when they are on the pitch, then criticism on some web forum or in a pub with mates is fair game.

I think many of our current players are not good enough, but once I am in the ground I will roar them on because on matchday they are the ones that decide how my team does. But away from the ground I am not going to try and bs myself that I think they are all great or going to come good just because they were lucky enough to find themselves at my club.

Come next weekend I will be praying to the gods for a win over fricking Norwich, and I will be hoping we smash them to little pieces and make Delia cry.

Come the cup final I will be hoping for more silverware to be coming back to L4, and for Kenny to get another notch onto his record.

Come the league game against Chelsea I will be hoping that we beat them for the second time in a week and give the home support a win for the last home game.

Come the last game of the season I hope we play Swansea off the pitch and make Sigurdsson want to join us.

But inbetween those games and after them, I will stick to my own convictions with regards to the team, to individual players, the manager, the owners, the club and what not. Some of those convictions will be strengthened by what I see, some will be challenged, some I hope to be proven wrong on, but no way will I feel that I cannot have an opinion on my club that does not fall into one camp or another and I sure as hell hope that every other supporter feels the same way about their personal opinions.

In fairness its the 3rd kit, when was the last time we even played in a 3rd kit? Im petty excited to see how the new kit looks, although I love our away jersey atm, picked it up for 30 quid the other week. A beaut...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,775 ✭✭✭✭Gbear

As **** as our league form has been this season, I don't believe that that's the best we can do under Dalglish. That we've been able to get to 2 finals is absolutely a giant + and great credit should go to Kenny for it.

If you don't believe that we can do better, if you can't conceive of us challenging for 4th next season, then you shouldn't back Kenny.
I believe we will. I believe it's unlikely that anyone could make us league winning material next year so there's no benefit to sacking Kenny.

Doubt it, he was extatic when we bet everton the other week and him being 2nd choise skipper sweetens the deal. Any other clubs above us around europe seem to have good keepers (off the top of my head) and doubt he'd wanna warm anyones bench..
