More relevant to Ireland now than it ever was before. Please feel free to add your own:

    * We are not against the rich - we are against using wealth to gain an unfair advantage.

    * We are not against Corporations - we are against Corporations governing us.

    * We are not against Capitalism - we are against corruption in Capitalism.

    * We are not against banks - we are against fraudulent banking practices.

    * We are not against investment markets - we are against legalised fraud in the markets.

    * We are not against democracy - we are against the sale of influence by our elected representatives.

I suppose a few that could be added for Ireland are:

    * We are not against the Public Sector - we are against them not obeying the same economic rules as the Private Sector.

    * We are not against the "Labour" Party - we are against them masquerading as "Socialists".

    * We are not against bankers - we are against their privileged treatment and the obscene amounts of money they are paid.

    Over to you folks.....

    I don't care.

    I am the 1%.

    I've had my fun.

    Thats all that matters.

I hate this use of the all inclusive "we".

Don't lump me in with vague dislikes thanks.

    G'wan the 1%!

Which most of us are actually in if you live in Ireland, taking average incomes across the world into account.

I don't see much use really, the game is rigged so to speak, and the rich will keep screwing over everyone else. Not much that can be done.

Yeah but with your i7 Mac and your holidays in Lake Garda and your fast internet connection and an iPhone (i briefly looked at your post history) do you REALLY consider yourself part of the downtrodden 99%

We are actually the 1%. If you take the whole world as an example. Imagine the populations of Africa, South America, Central and South-east Asia doing a Occupy Wall street. They're the ones who make our clothes, feed us, provide us with natural resources and cheap labour so we can carry on the way we do.

I'm for the status quo. Do you know how hard it is to make a pair of Nike trainers? There's a reason children are left to do this thing, it's ****ing hard.

Meooowwww.:D Do I detect a hint of jealousy there my friend? They came in our 50s, after we had the long slog of rearing a young family and paying through the nose for everything.

I don't smoke, have the odd social drink, so what you have listed above is what I choose to spend my money on. Probably unlike yourself.

The post is meant to highlight what the 1% are actually getting away with (it's actually more in Ireland I'd say). But hey, be a begrudger if you want.:)

I've got 99 problems and being in the 99% ain't one of them.

Having no flake on my ice cream is one of them.

Jealousy - you decide. I only have an i5 Macbook Pro but is sufficient for my needs. I holidayed myself near Peschera on the lakes last year and was impressed enough with the place to purchase a holiday villa last December. Hey it's only an hour from Switzerland right? and the snow boarding is to die for.

I am only in my 40's and am also raising a family but I pay for what is best for them and don't begrudge a penny of it as I see it as an investment in their future.
I do smoke and enjoy it -don't drink though except for champagne at wedddings, a sheery at christmas etc.

My post is meant to highlight the fact that far from being in the downtrodden 99%, you, like me, have a very substantial disposable income and your speaking on behalf of the 99% is quite frankly laughable.

    Am I a begrudger? No. I don't think so.

You certainly come across as it. The post, as I have said, adequately reflects what's going on in Ireland at the present time. Am i downtrodden? I certainly feel like I am, given the preferential treatment afforded to others in our society, such as politicians, bankers, PS/CS workers, etc.

And you have a bit of a neck, TBH, lecturing anyone, given what you've posted above.:) It depends on what you class as "substantial disposable income".

A week's holiday in Lake Garda costing €800 approx, while you purchased a villa? In your 40s? And was it by cash or mortgage? Because, somehow, I don't see anyone OUTSIDE the banking system getting a mortgage for a foreign holiday home these days.

Good luck to you. Wish it was me. But put your brain in gear in future before castigating others.

Isn't being 99% of the 1% actually a good thing as opposed to actually being poor?

I do wish people would stop thinking the world owes them a living. It is just self pitty stuff at times. You can't have a fair world as it would not work. It is as simple as that.

It is working perfectly fine. A few are rich and most are poor. The way it should be. If you want to get into the rich list, then go and earn it. No one is going to hand it to you.

Why do I always read posts like that in a dirty inner-city Dublin accent, and find myself finishing with 'Joe'.
