Got toyota avensis, '98, 1.8 petrol. require a lot of tlc.

First want to find out, why on motorway, temperature drops down kinda getting cold. is that thermostat at fault, or temperature sensor. ?

    Or something else.

May well be the thermostat stuck open.

Thanks, other question, :P , why when she cold started, revs are 1.8 k ., and holds quiet long. usually petrol engines when cold, revs jumps up to 1.2 - 1.3 k, than within 1 or 2 min drops, but mine is up for long time. ... never wait until they drops, as cant stay in one place for all day.
When properly heated, revs ok, 850 . could be electrical choke acting, or something else ?

Still could be cooling issues, if a temp sensor is giving wrong info to the ecu etc.

I don't know if the 7A-FE is the same as the 2C-TE but the diesel has a fast idle where the fan speed control switch steps the idle speed up if its turned on.
Turned off it just idles normally.
