    Hi all,
A little background to my query,

I was unfortuate enough to have my car damaged at work this year while it was parked and unoccupied.
The person responsible brought it to my attention immediately and I notified my insurance.
Fast forward a few weeks - person responsible not returning call/texts & being uncooperative.
My insurance suggested I file a recovery claim in which I/they would sort my car out & they would recover all costs from the other party's insurance, this would not effect my no claims bonus. (I didn't have full protection but was on stepback - I was on step 5 out of 6 with discount of 75%)

I did & it has all been sorted out.

Now it is time to renew my policy, & as my certificate of no claims discount shows '0 years' without a claim, but step 5 (75%) on the the NCD Scale I am unsure of what the answer should be to the question below?

How many years no claims do you have in your own name? or How many years no claims discount do you have in your own name?

Is my answer 0 years - because I processed a claim or
5 years because I am on step 5 on the NCD scale & my no claims has not been reduced as a result of the recovery claim?confused.gif

I had a similar situation myself a couple of years back. Technically your NCB is gone until your ins co have recovered the monies, but in reality you'll still get your full discount. My ins co issued me with a letter stating that the accident was not my fault and that they were in the process for recovering all monies, and this was acceptable to the other companies who quoted me.

i think the max is 5 years and this is equal to 75%. if it was 100% then you wouldnt have to pay anything
