DM isn't a necessity atm, a partner for Lucas is.

A backup for Lucas is. I asked at the start of the season hwat would happen if he got injured, and the general consusus was Sehlvey.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

If we're playing a 4-4-2 that'll be gerrard and if we go to a 4-3-3 - what i'd like to see - I think Henderson would be ideal for the role.

Then we'd either have Gerrard as the other midfielder or maybe the right hand side of the front 3.

Cracking player who can play wide left or in the CAM role equally well. Has looked good when needed in the centre also.

That's a great price for him though.

Don't know if this has been posted anywhere as of yet but here's an excellent article on the Anfield Wrap about the "football bubble" that causes people to take leave of their senses and act in a way they normally wouldn't - referring to the Chelsea and Utd fans chants during the weekend.

Fast and Strong player. Free transfer. Bit of an enigma imo

I just can't believe Gökhan Inler cost 12m last summer, and we ended up with Charlie Brown and co!
Inlers 27 - he's in his prime and isn't going to like being on the bench very much, I could be wrong but I don't think we'd have gotten the best out of him, had Lucas been injury free this season.

Obv it would've been great to have him with Lucas out but if we knew then what we knew now etc. etc.

Inler alongside Lucas would be fine in the same way as Inler beside Gargano is for Napoli, Gargano is far more defensive of the two. Inler is all action very similar to Vidal at Juventus, very composed on the ball and has a viscous long shot, amazing energy levels too.

    Could he be our Balotelli?

    Free transfers scare me though...

Could Royston be getting snapped up as competition for Enrique at left back. Me thinks he could make an aggressive attacking left back for us.

Being honest we should be replacing him this Summer but given the waste of resources........................

We still have to get something near Alonso like first!

He'd get massacred at left back imo.
I know he played wing back before but I really couldnt trust him in a role with any defensive responsibility.

If you think Johnson has his frailties, this guy would make us nostalgic for dossena almost.

So easy to buy proven quality in Europe for small money,
    Valencia have some good players,
Dalglish's ability to find players other than english ones worry me,

Could we not for a while consider trying to shove square pegs into round holes...

There's I guy I follow on Twitter (@Fourth_Offical) who is pretty accurate for transfer news , but is also a Everton fan .

He has said Royston will be playing in Liverpool next season but not in blue . For his house in Hale he has just submitted planning permission for an extension which would be unusual for a guy on a season loan.

He can sign for any club outside of Spain in the summer and he reckons is in talks of some dept with us.

He excites me as a player and with the amount of time we have the ball in the opponents half (compared with Everton) I think he could be a very dangerous player.

Yep, we still have to replace Alonso how many years on.

As a signing he reminds me of Ben Arfa to Newcastle. Lots of talent but questionable attitude. Great value though and if it works out, he is just what we need

Fourth_Official has a good reputation alright.

He's a very talented young player available for nothing. But an attitude like his is the last thing the club needs.

It's just that as Real Madrid are his parent club he has been able to talk to any club outside Spain since January under the Bosman rule :)

There's an agent called Peter Morrison who couldn't believe info that was tweeted by Fourth Official one time as he was convinced there was no leaks to a transfer he was involved in yet they seemed to know.
He wasn't annoyed he just couldn't understand how they found out.

Fourth Official is more than one person. I think one of them is an Everton fan.

In fairness Lucas at the moment is a more useful player to us than Alonso was in the majority of his time at Liverpool. By the time he left he was outstanding though.

I don't think that's quite true. Alonso's first two seasons were great, when we won the CL and FA cup, his third season he had some injury issues (on the way to a second champions league final), and then his fourth season he really struggled with the same injuries. He came back to full form in his fifth, and was absolutely immense.

It's really worth remembering though that even when short of fitness in his third season he was still fantastic for us, and in his fourth season, while disappointing by his standards, he was still above average when he was fit. There were questions over him being sold at the time, but these were more in relation to his fitness than his ability.

His reading of the game, and subtle interventions, coupled with his intelligent, incisive passing, were just a joy to behold.

I would ****ing love a midfield of Lucas and Alonso...
