It's been said before but Victor Moses would be a great shout in the summer. I wonder does the 'English tax' apply to players who are English but who've declared for other countries.

Do you think he could be the real deal or just a flash in the pan?

Wigan play some good stuff these days. Knock it around...just don't shoot enough /create enough clear chances, and haven't all season. Martinez is destined for bigger things in management. Wonder how he'd do at a big club, maybe even how'd he'd do at the biggest club (not that there is much doubt about Kenny being there for another year at this stage with two cup finals). Bit early for a club like ourselves perhaps but I'd say after Wigan he'd get a top job in Spain outside the big 2. I think with money he'd put a very good side together.

Anytime i've seen him he creates decent chances but makes a complete balls of them, we've enough of that in our team, no thanks.

He's fast but nowhere near composed enough in front of goal for me.

Moses is a stronger Walcott in simple terms. Pace in abundance, quite athletic and obviously built like a brick wall but he lacks composure as shown by his finish earlier which was very poor and should have killed the game off. Might be a decent squad player for a club aspiring for CL next season at best.

James McCarthy is the player we need from that Wigan team imo.

What Johnny Giles would call a "proper midfield player." Exactly what we need. He's clever and disciplined in his positioning. He is naturally an attacking player, but he's really had to curb that for Wigan this season, playing a DM role most of the time and he's been a great team player. He's just a very good all round player. He works hard, tackles well, tracks back, is composed on the ball and has good intelligence and vision.

    And will only get better.

    He's no Paul Green though.

Sorry if posted but didn't come across it reading over the last few pages. Kenny's 20m+ interview with his daughter before the semi.

Has played alot for Wigan this season and has 0 goals and 2 assists in the league. He has played alot as defensive midfielder though.

Good player but don't think he's LFC standard. Not yet anyway.

Meaningless stat given the role he plays for them

I don't think McCarthy has had a particularly great season but these stats have little bearing on a persons ability in the centre.

He's not a great defensive midfielder either.

Bit on the small side. Tough facker though.

I'd prefer someone like Sigurdsson who has 7 goals and 4 assists in half a season.

I don't think McCarthy would be much of an upgrade on Henderson.

McCarthy is a good player. Potentially excellent. I'd be happy to have him in the same way I'm happy to have Henderson.

You'd think after Charlie Adam people would stop simply looking at stats.

Sigurdsonn looks like an excellent prospect who already could be an upgrade in midfield. would be delighted if we went after him

If you watch Sigurdsson for Swansea, you would see that he would be a good addition to our squad.

Not basing my opinion on stats alone.

He is a good player but I can't see the point in having both in the squad.

Also, one of the reasons he can't make the Irish team is because he isn't very efficient in a two man midfield.

Excellent interview, nearly swayed me towards wanting him to have another season. :p Interesting that he do the Suarez affair completely differently.

Neither of the two planks we currently play in the Irish team can do it either.

Henderson might grow into the role the more he plays but McCarthy would be light years ahead of him at the moment in terms of understanding of the role in the centre. Martinez also seems like someone he will have learnt loads from working under. He has been excellent as part of a two in recent games but I think he would excel as part of the two with Lucas in a 4-2-3-1. The fact the kid seems to have a great head on his shoulders turning down big money moves in the past including ourselves makes me like him even more. That said I think he will cost a fortune which begs the question of surely we can maybe find better value elsewhere?

Why is Sigurdsson even being compared to McCarthy? Doesn't he play in the attacking midfielder/hole role most of the time? I don't recall ever having seen him play in the centre for Swansea.
