Suarez on 14 goals for the season. Again, could easily hit 20 in what has been a so-so year for him personally and for the club. Put him in a working team with a fluid attack and he will score bucket-loads. Seven assists this season too.

Not a bad return considering all the games he's missed.

He's still very raw imo, and when you consider the relatively easy chances he has missed this season I'd be confident he will score more next year.

The comments about Torres are reminding me of the Irish fans chanting "WHO" at Thierry Henry during the France vs Ireland play off match..

It's been a fun few weeks. Given how far we are off 4th spot, I'd happily give us some leage wins for a second trophy. 6th spot and 2 trophies would be a good season. And it's proves to the owners that we may have spent big, but we are still short of a few big players to complete for the top 4.

The season could have veen very different it Agger and Johnson hadn't gotten injured around the same time. The back 4 of them, Skittles and Enrique was working brilliantly. They looked solid and were bringing the best out in each other. Once Carra came back in, and Kelly/Flanno at RB, we took 2 steps back.

We can hope that that back 4 is our starting choice next season with a badly-missed Lucas in front, that's a very good base to build on...

Cup finals I can remember us losing.

1985 European Cup - Didn't realise the real horror of the occasion at the time as I was only 8.
1987 Littlewoods Cup - First time we lost when Rushie scored in his last game before moving to Italy.
1988 FA Cup - I still can't believe to this day that we lost that game.
1996 FA Cup - This one hurt almost as much as the memory of those white suits.
2005 League Cup - Less memories of this than the games above mostly.
2007 European Cup - Devastated. Made the trip and thought we were the better team.

Have there been other final disappointments in that time frame other than those? Obviously I could check the records to be sure, but off the top of my head unless I've blanked them out I don't think so. Not a bad record considering the ones we did win.

Wow Dom - you're really getting on huh? :)

We have an extraordinary record in Cup finals really. There is something special about this club and the big game. Our record in European competition during 2000 - 2010 was very special indeed. So many times we won ties we really shouldn't have on paper.

Chelsea know who we are though, and have many players in their squad who have beaten us in the big game (CL Semi 2008, QF 2009). We'll be underdogs and will need to play very, very well to have a chance.

Do any of the Benitez "fanboys" here reckon he'll go to Chelsea after the chants from a section of their support yesterday. (supposing he was offered the job)

Also, if Luis Suarez wants to play in the Olympic Games the club has to (really, really has to) grant his request. Playing for his country is clearly very important, and I would hate if an Irish footballer was denied such an opportunity.

Somebody should have a word in his ear and discourage him from going, mickey mouse competition.

    What an idiotic question.

Yeah, even though Chelsea as a whole have nothing to be ashamed of, it's upsetting to hear such a loud chant.

    I'm not a Liverpool fan.

If you think this incident will have a baring on any potential decision process he has to make with Chelsea your crazy.

    You don't know Benitez.

Not really. At the end of the day if the Yanks want CL football(bigger porfits) we won't be getting it with Andy Carroll has our main striker.

Owners tend to look at financial figures as well. He'll be here another season when another year will have been written of his contract and the hit not so bad.

In March the Guardian 'quoted' Kenny as saying "Kit deals and a happy club are as good as points" when he didn't.

Perhaps they think there's an important distinction between single and double quote marks but if so I think it's one that is lost on most readers. They've certainly been taking a few unfair digs at him.

The hack who wrote that particular piece for the Guardian has previously been sacked by the S*n. Her current employer had to apologise to the S*n only a few months ago because she made false allegations against them. She is a 'no name' daughter of some Baron toff, more comfortable in the showbiz section. She used to jump Piers Morgan's bones. Credibility rating...........leave that up to yourselves.

The Guardian ceased being relevant in the early noughties. It joined the herd.

It's sad alright, and it was quite a number.

I feel sorry for the decent Chelsea fans that are probably just as disgusted.

I'd imagine it could the final even more tense.

It's great to see Suarez is happy at the club and wants to stay. It has been a tough season for him so hopefully he can end it on a high. It would be great to see him at the Olympics this summer.

Until he's burnt out in January next year I'd say

Easily solved the FA can just give him another 8 match ban.

No doubt this is going to add a massive edge to the final. I feel quite angry about those chants and I have to relation to Liverpool the city or any of the fans involved.

Can you imagine how Liverpudlians must feel, most of whom will know someone connected to the tragedy? The fact that it's Londoners singing it as well..

This is not going to be forgotten, it's going to make the match atmosphere very very tense.

Chelsea were already a club we hated, especially their fans. But this will bring that hate up several notches more.
