Torres would go missing for 80 mins of games with liverpool, but then score out of nothing, Trouble is at Chelsea he does not get that chance,
We played him if fit, FULL STOP!
Chelsea won't do that, Their loss,

If you can keep it tight 0-0 or 1-1 then he's man to have on pitch,
At chelsea taken off before he get that chance to do something out of the blue, or never on pitch in first place

People forget what he was like at Liverpool, they look at vids and see all the goals and think he was dominating other teams for 90 mins,
He was a ghost most of the time at Liverpool, No where in game,
Yet could win it for you, as he was always played regardless
    first name on team sheet,

He's a victim of circumstance at chelsea, If he was still at liverpool no way would he see the bench when fit,!

Should be good final, I'd rather Chelsea, after what spurs did to us at white heart lane,, That could leave mental scars lol

    Drenthe rumors gathering pace .

    What do people think ?

For me he is one of those players that will be a massive hit or a massive flop with no in between.

He like many others that didn't cut the mustard at Real will eventually show their true potential at another club (ala Snijder) or be a right flop and become a journey man .

Worth a punt at the right price and a definite upgrade on the likes of Adam.

He's available on a free as far as I know.

He has pace which we are currently lacking.

He would be an upgrade on Kuyt IMO.

Madrid once paid €14m for him so he can't be that bad and we've seen alot of Real Madrid rejects like Van Der Vaart and Sneijder turn out good once they left.

He can also fill in it at left back which would be useful if Aurelio leaves.

Obviously it would be nice to win it but the league game has little relevance on our season now.

The Cup Final is far more important. Season defining.

Fu@kin' love Suarez! Not for that article but for the desire he has to win and how much he cares about trying to make sure the team win. I think Andy Carroll should put up that gif of him celebrating in the crowd with Aurelio.

That Drenthe has serious disciplinary problems apparently, that's why he hasn't been playing lately at Everton. I like him when he fancies playing, but he's off the boil a lot. A 1 game in every 5 type player IMO.

If I was Liverpool I wouldn't even bother taking the risk.

and well done Andy Carroll. a lot has been said about him, and a lot will continue to be, but a lesser man would've shirked getting into the positions he did yesterday after the couple of misses. it took balls to keep getting in there. a great winner, and i hope he remembers it for a long time.

and i hope it gets him a run of starts now.

Always thought it was a matter of getting his confidence back. He seems to have it in abundance naturally, I think personally his low was the penalty miss in the LC, if I remember correctly. He'd the balls to go and demand it, the miss was just demoralising.

Its a matter of restoring a lad totally lacking in confidence, who thrives on it, to being a worker, giving a different dimension to the team and get him back to scoring goals regularly.

Hence the bewilderment by many at bringing him on as a 80th minute sub! You don't bring on demoralised, confidence players in the 89th minute!

Thinking more and more about the league collapse points me to the Suarez ban, and not the lack of Suarez, the lack of conviction by the management in Carroll. Playing him now for 90 minutes seems an act of desperation by the management, not something they had any idea of in January. I worry why that is.

As for comparing Torres to Carroll, Rush or Torres?

    here here...

i remember when suarez was out...but just about to come back...and carroll was just starting to look sharp and he got put out of the team again...couldnt understand it.

but now he's showing why you should leave him on for 90 mins...cos his game, no matter how bad 89 mins may be, offers that 1 moment of danger.

now im still weary of the 'turning the corner syndrome' but he is definitely making strides...has anyone imagined how sweet it would be if he really made the transition to being class...

The main thing now is to hope he gets a good run of games and sticks in a few more goals so we have a better chance of selling him in the summer.

Of course I am serious, not sure I see any reason to keep him and refuse a £15m offer.

Up until recently we'd have be doing well to even get £10m for him. Ideall we'll be able to get £15m for him if he continues scoring. Still probably unlikely though.

so do you see absolutely no good in keeping him? im not caught up in sentimental rose glasses here either. the man still has a lot to do. but surely a fa cup, 87th minute goal, against everton has bought andy a little more time.

Its a huge transfer write down which will effect profits significantly.

    Enough American speak for you?

Not really. Even look at the highlights video on the other page, not exactly many positive highlights. Most involves us hoofing the ball up to him and him trying to flick it on, that's not what I want to see us doing all the time. Apart from that he wasn't great, some good touches/flicks and some terrible ones in there aswell.

Not really. At the end of the day if the Yanks want CL football(bigger porfits) we won't be getting it with Andy Carroll has our main striker.

No arguments there but no reason why we can't win both

so what harm in keeping him instead of forking out another 10-20 mil for a back up? when that 10-20 mil plus some more could but us our new number 1 striker.

Suarez on 14 goals for the season. Again, could easily hit 20 in what has been a so-so year for him personally and for the club. Put him in a working team with a fluid attack and he will score bucket-loads. Seven assists this season too.

yeah, but when league is priority you have to factor in two full cup runs.

don't get me wrong though...he has been one of our best this season, but this season didnt set that bar very high.

one thing for sure though, when that bar is raised, you can be sure suarez steps his game up too.

    EDIT

Sorry I kinda glanced at your message...you pretty much said what i said.

Well when you sell Carroll you can just use that money on a back-up striker.

Definately a spikey character, seems to be happy now he has achieved millionaire status aswell.

But he has undoubted potential. This is a signing that could make sense provided theres no transfer fee and wages are not obscene.

Light a fire under this guy and he could be superb.

Liverpool have a habit of buying guys who have overachieved. Spending big on the back of 1 or at a stretch, 2 decent seasons. Think of any player this season who has been good and no doubt we'll be linked to spending big money on them.

Sinclair, Sessegnon, Joe Allen, Ba etc...... all players who are at the peak of their powers. Possible overachievers and we'll bid more for them than they will ever be worth.

See Carroll, Henderson, Downing, Adam for further evidence of this.

Madrid have some amount of cast offs that are actually top class players. Lads who will not get within an asses roar of being first team regulars there. Players who can be world beaters at clubs where they can be treated like "the man".

    Granero
    Sahin
    Albiol
    Diarra
    Canales
    Drenthe
    Gago
    Pedro Leon

That above list is just for starters. I'd take Sahin and Canales in a heartbeat if they were available. Although Canales was unfortunate to do his cruciate whilst on loan at Valencia. He is definately a top class prospect though.

Cup finals I can remember us losing.

1985 European Cup - Didn't realise the real horror of the occasion at the time as I was only 8.
1987 Littlewoods Cup - First time we lost when Rushie scored in his last game before moving to Italy.
1988 FA Cup - I still can't believe to this day that we lost that game.
1996 FA Cup - This one hurt almost as much as the memory of those white suits.
2005 League Cup - Less memories of this than the games above mostly.
2007 European Cup - Devastated. Made the trip and thought we were the better team.

Have there been other final disappointments in that time frame other than those? Obviously I could check the records to be sure, but off the top of my head unless I've blanked them out I don't think so. Not a bad record considering the ones we did win.

    This is a joke yea?

Bad memory, ? Come on , All the years he was there he would be lost in games, Then only needed a chance, to break defenders hearts,
That's the man i remember, Its not a insult, its a compliment of how good a poacher he was, He would always get his chance in a game, and mostly taken them

You knew no matter how quite he was, He remained on pitch and could win it for you,
And played every game when fit,

Paul McCartney is doing a concert in Montevideo Uruguay right now.

He brought up Liverpool FC and Luis Suarez. Explosion of applause.
