Quick NCT Question

    I've only just remembered I'm booked in for NCT test next weekend, but I will be away. Can someone take the car in my place? It say Drivers License and Vehicle Reg Documentation required on the confirmation text and email.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Yeah they can, as long as they have the log book and ID themselves.. Same happened to me and a friend brought it in my place.

    I took a friend's to the NCT before - no-one even blinked or asked me who I was, as long as I handed over the cash and keys.

    Only problem I could foresee would be if the car failed to such an extent that they weren't going to let you drive it away.

    They seem to have got more strict since the bung alegations on RTÉ, last time I needed to show my driving licence and vehicle licencing cert. Previously it was just cash and keys for me on the previous 4 or 5 visits. They don't care who brings the car in once they have photo id and vehicle licencing cert.

    Thanks guys. I'll give my brother the Vehicle Reg Cert and my driving license just in case.

    They have no power to prohibit you to drive away.
    All what they can do is mark it as "fail dangerous" and inform you that you are not allowed to drive the vehicle on the road.
    But it's up to you if you will drive it or not.
    I believe they can also inform the guards if they see you driving it away.
