Wanting to get the best out of conifers

    I have planted douglas firs, mainly because I love them and there arent many around. They are starting to bud at the moment. We went around and put some phosphate around them to get them going, I was thinking should I give them some 10-10-20 later on? In autumn? For 3 or 4 years and maybe for a good few years to come?I want these trees to grow big and beautiful and to their full potential.They are planted in good deep soil. Any advice appreciated

    If they are planted in brown earth soil they don't need any fertilizer; just keep them well fenced - deer are especially fond of them!
