verify mileage on SH car via NCT

    hi all,

    looking at buying a car from donedeal with no service history other than the owners word

    she looks v clean with low miles, and everything appears to check out

    anyone ever managed to get the info from NCT centre about the mileage that was on the car when it was NCT'ed last ?

    if yes how do I do it

    Does the owner not have the previous NCT cert(s), it will be listed on them? If not and no service history then assume the worst. Also do a history check on one of the sites like motorcheck.ie or cartell.ie.

    NCT centre can't officially give out mileage information, but lads who work there have access to it, so if you know anyone working for NCT he will be able to check it for you.

    But that's just about mileage. I can't see a way NCT centre could verify service history.

    Pay for an AA inspection or get a trusted mechanic to look over the car. It's hard to hide high mileage wear and tear from an expect. If the seller won't allow an inspection walk away.
