96 almera water "bubbling"

I bought a 1.4 petrol 96 almera last week for my OH and she said that she got home today and she could hear some water "bubbling" under the bonnet. The temperate change is where it usually and the heating is working fine as well so i think i could rule out a thermostat or water pump problem. The radiator has a good few holes in it and could probably do with being replaced. Can anyone advise what to look for before i get a chance to see it this evening?

Most likely there is air in the system, usually caused by someone not bleeding the system when replacing the coolant.

DO THIS WHEN CAR IS FULLY COOLED DOWN, FAILURE TO DO THIS WHEN CAR IS COOLED DOWN WILL CAN RESULT IN BOILING WATER BEING RELEASED FROM THE RADIATOR...
Best way to resolve it is to open the radiator and start the car, then squeeze the hose going to the radiotor a few times and you will see the air being released. Then put the cap back on and take the car for a short drive until temperature is normal, then let car cool down for a good hour and repeat the first process, this will clear it.

Thanks atlantic dawn. I was thinking and i am hoping that it is something easy like that. I think there is a bleed screw located at the top of the thermostat so i might try that as well. Thanks again!

Yes some cars have that, much easier if it's there. Just make sure it's cooled down
