    Hi Guys,
I'm looking to put a towbar on a 2010 Skoda Octavia. Two options - fixed or detachable swan neck type:

Fixed (fully wired, coded and fitted in main dealer) for €350
    Detachable for €450

The detachable will certainly look a lot neater as the socket is also hidden when not in use. I will be using the towbar to carry a bike rack once or twice a month.

Does anybody have any experience of these? Do they give any issues with wear and tear etc?

I'm also getting different information on the fixed towbar interfering with the rear parking sensors ??

Hi, Fitted a swan neck permanent type hitch to my Skoda Octavia diesel two years ago.
Fully wired cost 260 euro at Calbro Tuam rd Galway city. No problem with reversing sensors. No noticeable wear on tyres but I am not a big user of trailers - occasional load to the dump etc. Keep tyres pumped to correct pressure. Octavia is an excellent car for towing from my experience.

I'd be checking the detachable one is compatible with a bike rack.

I fitted a detachable swanneck to an 07 octavia, no problems with a thule bike rack. about 2 hours work, very straightforward.
