Steering issue on '08 A4

Hi,

I recently got a 2008 A4 2.0 and noticed that the steering is really heavy. I never drove an Audi before and I mentioned it at the time to the sales guy and he passed it off as "Audi Solidness". Now it is really starting to bug me, it is almost as if there is no power steering. I drove a 2010 Passat at the weekend and the steering was so much easier, and as I thought it should be.

Has anyone come across this before? I have a warranty for a year so if there is a fault I want to get it sorted, or is it the Audi way?

The early B8 A4's didn't have the servotronic steering that did become standard for the 09 onwards model, and without that the steering is very heavy. It's bad enough with servotronic (heavier than most other vehicles in that class) but better than the non Servo ones.
