Chevrolet Tacuma ,temp gauge

Hi guys, I have a 2006 Chevrolet tacuma and currently the temp gauge is playing up, it goes to about halfway and then drops right down and stays there untill you leave it idle and goes back to half way. it is full of coolant . any ideas?

Sticking thermostat is a possibility. Is the rad fan/heating etc all working normally?
