I had one a few years ago. Had it for 5 years with absolutely no problems. Few services, brake pads, tyres and a new battery was all it ever needed. Handles like a dream, great for city driving, cruising down a motorway or caning it along back roads. Never had an ounce of trouble from it and petrol consumption was great. It cost about the same in a month as my previous 1.5 almera.

Nice and quick.....I still miss it....

Missus started driving so I traded the 1.8 coupe against a Astra Sportshatch 1.4

I'd love to get another one - can't reccommend it enough!
