Minibus Licence

    Hello,

I'm considering learning to drive a minibus with a view to getting some work in that area.

Was just curious if anyone has any advice. Like is it worth getting, what is the general pay like for a minibus driver etc...

Is there much full time work out there for bus drivers these days?

What are the best places to look for some work if/when I pass my test?

    Cheers...

    Xareik

You can go straight for the D if you have a B licence (and get the D1 automatically) - kill 2 birds etc.

I'm aware of that but it costs considerably more to learn to drive the D licence... D1 is much cheaper!

No work out there for D1 drivers if I'm honest. Coach operators prefer drivers to have the full D as it's of more use to them - even if you only ever drive 16 seaters.

The only people I know with a D1 only are lads driving community minibuses or wheelchair buses

Indeed but if you do the D1 you'll end up regretting not going for the D in the first place and have to spend more money later on.

Unless you have a minibus the cost of lessons in D won't be much more than D1. I don't even know any schools that do D1.

If you do start driving professionally you will eventually need to get the D as there's more work and pay.
