JPAC - Is ArcadeVGA Card Required?

Hi

recently bought a Jamma Cabinet, and would like to get mame running it. I initially thought, that I could just get a JPAC and plug an old pc I have. But now I have seen that I may need to get a ArcadeVGA card.

After reading around the internet I am still not sure If I can plug my pc straight in, or will I need to get an ArcadeVGA card?

The arcade vga card is PCIe, which my pc does not have so If I could avoid getting that card It would be great.

You might or might not need one - depends which videocard your PC has, or which card you could get hold of (for much cheaper than an ArcadeVGA, of course).

PCIe is not important, AGP cards work just fine.

I use soft 15Khz with an older 512MB Ati card, it's PCI-e, it works perfectly.

The ArcadeVGA card has a native 15Khz output which the JPAC needs. Soft15Khz, takes the standard 31Khz output of a normal gfx card, & converts it to 15Khz for use with a JPAC.

Ok Thanks, I will just order the JPAC and try soft15khz first. The video card is a Geforce FX5500, cant find much info on that card but hopefully it will work.
