Going rate for mechanic to check over car?

    Or is it there any point? Have small enough money to be spending so dont want to get burnt but as I say above what would be the going rate....

    Unless they had miles to travel, €50 is a fair rate IMHO.

    Be careful the mechanic doesn't know the seller !

    Have often seen 20 euro from buyer to mechanic for "checking" the car, and 100 euro from seller to mechanic for "approval" !

    Not that I'm cynical or anything !
