One question Pro F, and odd one but I'd be interest in your answer....

If Carrick never played this season and we had Fletcher and Scholes fit and playing from the start of the season until now, do you think we'd be better or worse off now?

That's a complicated question to answer.

I think Fletcher at his best is a better player than Carrick at his best. Not as good defensively but still decent defending when he was fully fit (which I'm not sure he was for a few seasons). And Fletcher was better with the ball at his feet, although I still think he came up a bit short in that regard.

I don't really know how to answer the question about if Fletcher and Scholes were fit and playing from the start of the season because I don't know how many games we should hypothetically expect them to have played. In a comparison of a hypothetical Carrick/Scholes pair who play every game to a hypothetical Fletcher/Scholes pair who also play every game I would say the Fletch version would have done slightly better. But it's close.

And in reality Fletcher has had trouble playing consecutive games for a good few seasons, maybe even for his whole career.

Sure i can see his limits. He's just not as bad as you think!

Fair enough :) We're agreeing to disagree again.

Has anyone seen much of this guy Kevin strootman, rumours gathering pace that we are going to sign him

Well any1 here following Dutch football. I know its the Mirror (who are esp awful when it comes to Utd) but sure let the muppetry begin. Any good??

We should sign more Dutch players considering what the last 3 have been Van Der Sar, Ruud and Stam. Not so bad like

Just tie it all up tomorrow with a win.

If experience has taught us anything, it's that even if United are 5 in front tomorrow night? They still are guaranteed nothing.

Strootman is keeping Nigel De Jong out of the Dutch team and apparently is the real deal, a mate of mine who lives in Holland says he is like Christian Eriksen but with more defensive responsibility.

    Sounds good to me.

Ahh lads, what a weekend. City drop 2 more points and still have that tough trip to the Arsenal. Liverpool are humiliated again :p and IF we win tomorrow night there are 34 points behind. Arsenal losing also was comical.

Tricky game tomorrow and I wouldnt be surprised to see points dropped as United never do things the easy way. But aslong as City keep shooting themselves in the foot we should be OK. Winning the League at Eastlands would be just fantastic...

Well ain't that the truth and I see Mancini is predicting that we will draw. Hopefully SAF can use that as an extra incentive to push for the win.

I think it was more to do with communication problem. Probably he meant "Hopefully" but instead used "Will". His english is not good so its maybe obvious mistake.

From memory his words were " i think Manchester United will do draw tomorrow probably so we will be three points behind anyway"

Its obviously paraphrased but that is basically what he said in his interview.

Either way, it should give the team an added incentive, though they shouldnt need one.

Very tough game ahead tonight, hopefully Kean will remember how Fergie was so nice to him and supported him earlier this season and do us a favour :)

    Yeah, he said:
I think on Monday United will probably do a draw and we are always three points behind.

    Then he also said:
“United will draw – do you want to bet with me? Even if they win there are another seven games,”

So I think I was wrong. He knew what he was saying.

Just gonna jinx us now and say I fully expect 3 points tonight, can't see Fergie letting them leave the field with any less given the golden opportunity we have to go 5 points clear. That said, Blackburn are on the bounce so that coupled with them beating us at home earlier in the season, a dogged 1-0 or 2-1 will suffice.

On a different note, does anyone expect Berba to make an appearance before the end of the season? It's like he's fallen off the face of the earth. Even in the latest press conference, SAF was banking on Rooney to score a goal per game for the rest of the season and mentioned how every season they have at least one player who keeps popping in the goals, he said Chicarito was that player last season! Eh, did Berba say horseracing is shít and only for fairies or something??

Lol didnt know about the second quote! sheer brilliance :)

surely the lads will come out and play to the level we know they can tonight!

Tonight's game will be a tough assignment. Blackburn are in dire need of a win given the results of the weekend. We will need to see a very good United performance to get the win.

tonight will be tricky never the easiest place to go although its great spot for away day trips..

Normally when we play them at Edwood come crunch time they normally seem to play well against us the 0-0 in 99 and last season 1-1(know we won league but still tough game) so 3 points is not cert unless we play well.

A repeat of lasts weeks performance against Fulham won't be enough tonight.

I've a feeling Chico will pop up with the winner tonight. 0-1 United hopefully.

We've dropped points so many times at Ewood towards the back end of the recent seasons.

Oh how I forgot the 0-0 from 09/10 season

Don't want to see Giggs in the starting 11 tonight, much prefer to see Scholes starting alongside Carrick.

Feeling Scholes will start along with Chico up front.

Have we ever won there two seasons in a row in the PL? Drew last season, the 0-0 in 2010 and lets not forget David Bentleys hattrick :(

Scholes should play this game. Cleverley is fully fit so he will get few mins, hopefully we will have easy time out there. We had enough twists this season already.

It's ironic that Blackburn were a lot stronger back then too.

Even if we win the season is far from over.

I think City at home are pretty unreal, so getting points at city isn't too odds on.

Utd had a terrible run of games with Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool and they won 10/12, so saying City have it tough v Arsenal and that is untrue. If City play as well as they can they will win.

United drop points tonight, and City beat Arsenal away and it's a totally different ball game.

I cant believe how many neutral fans think it is all over.

Thankfully won more run ins then lost, but this league is still in balance, even if it's advantage United,.

To be 8 points clear by the time City kick off away at Arsenal is a must, if we're to win number 20. This is far from over at the moment.

If we can get 3 wins from the next 3 we're in very good shape. Considering they still have to go to Newcastle & Arsenal who are both fighting for CL/European spots.

I can see City dropping points to Arsenal maybe, not to Newcastle for some reason who I think will be torn apart by them, no logical basis for that I guess, just a gut feeling.

Ultimately the title destination is in the teams own hands which is the way you would want it to be with 7-8 games to go.

Avoid defeat at new Maine Road and United should win the title imo, very important to have a bit of breathing space going into that game though in case the worst happens. Been very consistent in the league for a while now, picking up points even when not playing well, that is what matters in a tight race. City did the same the other day and they will not go away easily.

They deserved nothing from that game but got a point. That is what champions do also unfortunately.

People seem to forget they have come back from goal behind to beat Chelsea 2-1, they grabbed a draw against Stoke and even more unlikely point against Sunderland from 3-1 down. That has saved City 5 big points.

If United had done same thing we be talking about never say die attitude.

I see this the other way round, I think that they will beat Arsenal and drop points either against Norwich or Newcastle. Stoke proved they can be physically beaten in midfield and Newcastle are well capable of doing that.

Grant Holt has been the bane of many teams this year, I'm hoping he pops up and does us a huge favour :D
