Error Popup - Shared Memory?

Hi all,

Im using a Mac Pro OSX v10.7.3 and Im getting a pop up error message thats very quick. Having checked the console log, this is the offender..

01/04/2012 13:59:12.457 com.apple.launchd.peruser.501: (com.facebook.videochat.MYNAME.updater[486]) Tried to setup shared memory more than once

Can anyone tell me how I can fix this? Thanks!

Thanks for mentioning the "Tried to setup shared memory more than once" issue. This is a bug that we're looking to fix.

Yep.. I use facebook video chat a bit. Interesting reply from the facebook engineer..

Its not my Mac at fault so. I looked up a way of killing the updater so I'll stick to Facetime for now until the bug is fixed.

Hey there - I'm one of the Facebook engineers that wrote the video calling feature on Facebook.

The reason the updater gets a list of the running processes is to check for the video calling process (i.e. to check whether you're in a call at the moment the updater runs). It postpones updating until you're done with your ongoing video call.

The OS version check lets it work around issues in Mac OSX 10.5. And the HomeDirectory business checks for permissions on whether the updater can write the downloaded PKG and run it.

That maybe the case however the ps command that is executed shows all processes running on the machine. At best it is an inelegant method of checking for the required process and at worst bad form.

I wonder can you delete it from ~/Library/LaunchAgents without issues?
