SDFA Gone(ish) Warranty Q.

SDFA on Goatstown seem to be gone as a Fiat Dealer.

I bought a Fiat 500 used (2009 lounge model) from them and we agreed an extension on the warranty to 1/3/13 as long as I took it in to them for servicing. Does anyone know if this will be honoured by Fiat them selves or just take it and get it a cheaper service from a regular garage and forget the warranty extension.

Its on SIMI paperwork if that makes any odds.

On servicing what's a good cost for a clueless person like myself.

Does the warranty paperwork they give you mention a provider - some extended warranties are backed by a third party insurer of sorts.

However - does that car not have a 4 year warranty from Fiat?

Confused on that myself becuase we were looking at one from another dealer that did. The guy from SDFA said they didn't - and that they were a fiat dealer. Wouldn't be the first time an actual dealer got it wrong though.

Its a 2009 model if that helps. No details of a provider on the paperwork. Being exsales myself I got the impression this was a "put it on the paper work and hope it doesnt come up" type of deal.

I'll ring Fiat on Monday - here's hoping it hase the 4 years but I think the early ones didn't.

That's the best thing to do. If it's a manufacturer extended warranty, Fiat Ireland will have it on record. Have your registration number and/or chassis number ready when you call.

If it's not a manufacturer warranty then you'll just have to call around the usual providers - Mapfre would be a good start.
