What's with TV3 repeating their in-house programmes but giving them new names?
Tonight's "The Day the Germans bombed Dublin" is a repeat of their 2010 programme "Dublin's North Strand Bombing".
Last night's "Ireland's Vanished Mothers" was last year's "Ireland's Missing Mums".

Their Paul Connolly "Investigates" series were all renamed.

    What's up with that?

Ah that's that mystery explained. TV3 are so cheap.

Probably so it looks to the BAI that they're meeting their requirement for home grown content. Wouldn't surprise me with the way TV3 do things.

Would it be a case that they've to show a certain amount of Irish shows and so just renamed old ones to get past that?

I can see now why they made you Mod of the Conspiracy Theories forum. :D

My theory is that they were just too stupid to remember what they called them the first time around. :pac:

I'd say its done to fool viewers into watching the same thing thinking its a new show. Cheap, sneaky and rather sad when ya think about it.

Original titles weren't red-top enough for them.

I agree the original programme names were most likely seen as too high brow for the typical TV3 viewer.

Am I the only one who read "disguising" as "disgusting" in the thread title

I've noticed that the documentary they have showed of Lolo Ferrari has now been name-changed 3 times over the past year:
    Lolo Ferrari: larger than life
Lolo Ferrari: dying to be beautiful
Lolo Ferrari: death of an icon.

The same can be said for versace's murder show tonight. So pointless and unnecessary.

Another repeat on this evening,SOS (save our shops) I think it was called something else before.
The episode they showed was about saving a shop in Wexford- it closed down about a month ago, pity tv3 didn't go the same way.

Their copying their parent companies tactics. Although their parent company maybe wouldn't just rename the show but they do reuse the same content over and over again.
