Trying to find a book

    Does anyone remember a book that was published in th 90's. I think it was aimed at around 12 year olds ? It was about a group growing up in and around the area of bray and south dublin. There was a lad playing football on the cover and if I remember right he went over to england to play professionally in the story ? Another part of the story was about one of the group racing pigeons ?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
