First fix pipes in new build

Hi there

Can any of you plumbers answer me this - Im ready for first fix plumbing in my new build I am putting 200mm of insulation on the sub floor. Should my pipes be fixed to the floor or on top of the insulation ( in grooves ie. flush with the top of insulation ). My insulation is EPS. Is there a right way and a wrong way.

Your plumber will know how to do it, you can get clips which will hold it right the insulation , like what's used for underfoot heating , if you are putting steel ontop of the insulation before pouring the concrete you could cable tie the pipes to this , just make sure they are well insulated and well secured as if they are not well secured they will rise to the top of the concrete as soon as its poured

Sullzz there will be no steel or concrete on top, it will be just a floor screed so a sand and cement mix.
My plumber is talking about fixing the pipes to the floor but my thinking is if the pipes are on top of the insulation they will be better insulated ie. any escaping heat will rise into the house not into the ground.
So before I go back to him I wanted to know if it is essential or best practise to fix to floor.

How much of a floor screed are you going to have , if there is not much of a screed there is always the possibility of it getting damaged with nails etc . Your plumber could use the pipe within a pipe system which comes pre insulated which has virtualy no heat loss if you are worried about heat loss .

My floor screed will b e 100mm or 110mm so dont think nails are a worry as all walls are concrete block so no stud walls.
