That a plug to supply power for a implement behind. say you had a mower with a grouper. U'd have a button on top of one of the spools which would get power from that socket so when you press the button and pull the spool the grouper will go up/down and leave off the button and pull the same spool and the mower will go up/down If ya follow....:pac:

Beacon...i'm guessin shes a 77/7840 then on the side of the roof u'll see a little round black plug/cap. open it and u'll see where you plug that in!!

But I could be completly wrong:D

No it's only a small 85hp New Holland. I won't be putting a mower with grouper on it anytime soon!:D But your probably bang on the money with your answer about it being a power source for controls.

I thought it might be for a beacon because I've a factory fitted button to turn on a beacon beside other buttons for worklights on the RHS mudguard

Have the same plug on our fiat. Often wondered what it was for too. All the plugs I have seen for balers, wrappers, hedgecutters etc have been smaller semi circular 3 pin plugs like the one your talking about vander.
