Interesting that Sheridan got a contract, we're hardly going to have 5 scrumhalves on contract with us, who's leaving? Stringer or TOL?

Please say Duncan Williams :). Even if its not the case it would be one of those sweet little lies that we all tell ourselves to cheer us up for 10 minutes.

Glad to say he signed a new contract a few days ago. I think he gets a lot of harsh criticism here, he's had some very good outings for us. Tbh, I'd happily have him as back-up to Murray.

Is that a new rule? I remember players being swapped between teams before.

Pretty sure I do too. I know it's a rule for the HEC but I'm not so sure on the Rabo.
In the press when Borlase went to Connacht they referenced the fact he hadn't played for Munster this season.

I know players moved around in the past but it hasn't happened in a while.

You're joking, he's basically an under powered version of O'Leary, injury prone and capable of the most ridiculous errors at the most innocuous momoents.

The guy is pushing 26, he's not even in the 'promising youngster, might improve category' anymore. Time to call a lemon a lemon and move on.

Thats not being harsh or unfair just a realistic observation of the guys abilities.

I'd be fit to cry if Williams had to come in due to a Murray injury ten minutes into a HC final

He's had enough time to prove himself but has failed to do so

Only ever had 8 starts, very few, if any with our first choice pack. He's situation isn't unlike Reddan's when he had to leave. He's a much better passer and organiser than TOL, imo.

Fair enough, maybe when he gets a few more starts we might see something else from him. That said I've seen a good bit of him in the AIL and he wasn't exactly a standout at that level.

I don't think Williams up to much IMO, hopefully he'll prove me wrong.

If Stringer is not re-signed I hope he goes to play for Connacht for a season rather then retire, as unfortunately they're really his only two options.

Connacht have signed Richie Rees from Cardiff so it's unlikely Stringer will head there too

Edit: That doesn't seem to be official yet so perhaps it's just rumour

Apparently Tomas O'Leary has just signed a three year deal with London Irish.

Just heard that TOL is off to London Irish for 3 years. Anyone know anything about this or is it BS?

Edit: beat me to it rrpc...

    It's true all right

3 years seems like a very long deal for someone out of form

Hopefully TOL can regain some form over there

This means Williams will be back-up to Murray next year unless we get someone in, that's worrying

I'd imagine Stringer will be, and hopeful Sheridan will develop.

Big news in Munster today, none of it all that good. Flannery retiring confirmed, although it was always likely its really sad. I always held out hope of a return for him.

And as for O'Leary, I know he is out of form, but I dont have any confidence what so ever in Williams.

Pity about Flannery, a great player, and I hope he's ok about retiring. As for O'Leary - I really hope that this change of scene allows him to become the player he was 3 or 4 years ago before his injury. Good luck TOL!

Ireland scrum-half Tomas O’Leary has signed a three-year deal with London Irish.

The 28-year-old will join the Exiles in the summer from Munster, where he has won two Heineken Cups and two Magners League titles.

Genuinely gutted for Flannery, great player and a great guy. Hope he can enjoy his retirement without pain from his injuries.

Think it's good for TOL to move on, hope it works out for him. Super athlete, would be great if he could get back to his 2009 form.

Not surprised about Fla, but it's still sad to see him go, he was an excellent player when he was fit.

Not happy about TOL leaving tbh...not in great form but Williams is simply not good enough.

Best of luck to TOL, good bit of business by him to secure a 3 year deal.

I hope we give Strings a one year extension, I don't fancy Williams as second choice. However we should start Williams ahead of TOL when Murray is unavailable.

Get Strings back, show Williams that he'll have to up his game to make match-day squads.

    LIrish fans seems happy

The munster rugby announcement seems odd

Probably the best for all parties. O'Leary losing his central contract would have placed an extra burden on Munster's finances had they wanted to keep him. I presume the plan is to play Murray with Stringer as back up next year, and see how Williams and Sheridan step up.

I'm still not too keen on Williams, but he has been better with a run of games recently. He's a real front foot scrum half though - his game falls apart when the pack is under pressure. I don't think he is even the best 9 in Cork Con. Sheridan might be better, but I cant say I've seen enough of him.

I think O'Leary will do better in the Premiership. I don't think his limitations will be exposed to the same extent, and the physical nature should suit his game.

    one things for sure; your going to be hearing alot more of Stuart Barnes pronouncing his name "tamas" instead of tomas; thats kind of all i have to add to his switch to LI; also i do believe hes actually the only Irish man playing at LI. correct me if im wrong;

Bob Casey has been there for years. I think it is his last season, but I'm open to correction on that.

They also have Brian Blaney. The marketing people want a couple of token Irishmen so since Casey is retiring they needed an Irish signing :D:D

Would never have called Casey a token Irishman.

Stringer isn't the answer though, he's been in decline for an age now.
