Arklow - Wednesday retail opening hours

It's been a while since I've had to go into Arklow to shop but I remember some time ago trying to shop on a Wednesday evening only to find that a lot of stores on the main street close around lunch-time on Wednesdays. Is this something unique to Arklow and does it still happen?

There arent a lot of shops left on the main street but those that are there will be open.

I dont think its unique to Arklow, shops in Wicklow town used to do the same as did shops in Gorey.

The shopping centre is there now too so im sure you will be able to find what you are looking for....
