Munster sign Sean Dougal from Rotherham as well. Decent young Irish openside released by ulster last year. Fair addition to the back row.

At least its nice to know the provinces are keeping an eye on the first division Irish lads.
Brian O Hara def wont be getting a new contract then as there will be Ronan, Wally, TOD and O Mahony all able to play at 7

Munster Prepare For B&I Cup Semi Final
    14 March 2012, 5:22 pmBy The Editor
In preparation for the B&I Cup semi final clash against Leinster on good Friday in the RDS, Munster will play a Munster Academy/Club selection side in Temple Hill on Friday, 16th March ko 6.00pm.
For their part, Leinster warmed up for the semi final by trouncing Connacht 50-0 this afternoon, a game that saw their latest recruit Brad Thorn make his Leinster debut.
The Munster team will include David Wallace and Mike Sherry, both of whom returned from injury in the RaboDirect PRO12 game against Aironi last week-end.

Definitely out of the Munster side is Dave Foley having dislocated his shoulder but the composition of both sides will not be finalised until some time tomorrow.

*Admission for this fixture is free
Game finished 12-6 to Munster A, there was no score in the 2nd half. Luke O Dea got 2 trys for the As

What's John Ryan like? He's only made 4 sub appearances in the Rabo according to the Munster website.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to Johne Murphy, according to Phog's table his contract is up at the end of this season. While he's been a consistent player Munster have a pile of wingers on their books e.g. Zebo, Howlett, Earls, Hurley, Scanlon, and O'Dea all spring to mind.

    He's signed a 2 year extension.

Good to see Cotter get a development contract. He needs game time now.

Also good to see Johne Murphy signing on for another 2 years. He's far from perfect, but he bailed us out last year wearing every jersey from 11-15, and he has had some decent performances this season, since Christmas especially. I'd rate him as a better winger than Hurley.

Longer term, I think O'Dea and Zebo could be our wingers for the next few years. With Earls seemingly determined to concentrate on 13, and Dougie probably going into his last season, Murphy will definitely be handy to have around for the next 2 years at least.

He is in contract with Munster and Ireland, and the tax break would make it very difficult for Toulon to make the deal profitable for ROG if he leaves I hope he is being made buy his way out of his contract

    Is the mail confirmation?

    It's pathetic lazy incompetent journalism.

    That's what it is.

"The issue will be clarified when Munster fill their head coach job, which becomes vacant with Tony McGahan's departure to Australia at the end of the season. Anthony Foley, who is temporarily standing in for Smal with Ireland, is on the shortlist of five for that position. The process is due to be completed within a month."

anyone know who the five are?

I was just about to mention this. I just saw it on Twitter.

For some reasons, these matches have gone to refs outside the usual Rabo refs. I remember Garces, Berdos, Gauzere, White and Small reffing these games in recent years.

I don't mind Owens though. Reasonably consistent, and definitely the most competent of the usual Rabo refs who would be able to ref this one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,591 ✭✭✭ambid

Owens will be much better than Garces. He lost control of the last match.

Who's available within the Rabo squad of refs, though Nigel does a couple every season. We cant have an Irish ref as the best are either Munster or Leinster refs. The Scottsh and Italian refs are poor. That leaves either Nigel or head to the UK or France.
