Lads quick question when the first 5 matches are over is d board open to the last 3 before d names go up or do the names go up and we continue straight on without opening the board?

Board is usually open until the 6th pair of players are called to the oche .

In the real world if the match is running late as often happens the home side might be under pressure to push on and get the match finished so it might only be a quick throw while the names are written up . In the interests of fair play the board should certainly be open during that time (though I'm not sure NCDL have a rule about this)

    B.O.T.H 7,,,SWISS COTTAGE 1,,WEDNESDAY RED,,,, 22/02/12,,our lads played well,,doubles let us down.

On another note why do we have to check out this site ,,why have we not our own site n.c.d.l and have up to date leauge placeings,, and
double fixtures,,single fixtures, etc,,it is a challange to find out were you
are in the league,,in the finacial climate we live in today and the effort
every person makes,, is it not time these guys got up there backsides
    and made an effort.
Well thats my opion ,,so if any person or persons have something to add
    fell free,

    Regards,
    HOCKY JOCKY.

is it not time these guys got up there backsides
    and made an effort.

These guys give up their time for free every sunday from way before the league starts through the end of the season and beyond to keep the league running . For the singles , doubles and cup events they give up their entire day . They do this voluntarily and at their own expense . Accusing them of not making an effort is unfair , to say the least .

On another note why do we have to check out this site ,,why have we not our own site n.c.d.l and have up to date leauge placeings,, and
double fixtures,,single fixtures, etc,,it is a challange to find out were you

Websites cost money to run and time to maintain and update . It's not for me to speak for the NCDL but one of the committee members said on this thread that they had hoped to have a website up and running for this season . It hasn't happened but that comment coupled with the fact that they are happy to provide the results for publication here shows that it is something they are open to .

Perhaps instead of criticising those who already do what they can someone should step up and offer to help with the increased workload that is being suggested here . This last isn't aimed specifically at you , HOCKY JOCKY but to the many who complain about this without offering any solution .

Point taken Nessy.I do understand the effort made by these guys to keep
things moving and i thank them for that.
But that is not my point.

    My point being,,

[1] If we had our own website, team captains could enter results
to the site which would free up the guys sundays.

[2] Cards could be handed in the last sunday of the month for
    the records.

[3] Websites cost money yes. But im sure it is possible to create
    revenue from advertising i.e,,Unicorn,,Norton,,etc,,and any
    otherbody which would be interested.

That is my point for what it is worth,,who knows.

    Regards,

    HOCKY JOCKY.

Excellent response and by far the most constructive thing I've heard or seen on the issue :)
[1] If we had our own website, team captains could enter results
to the site which would free up the guys sundays.

That assumes that every captain/secretary has internet access . I'd imagine most have (or would have a team member they could trust to post on the team's behalf) but for this to be workable you'd probably need each team to have an appointed member who undertakes to do this .

Dont think it would save the lads sitting on a sunday . I'm sure there are plenty of matters that need to be dealt with outside of marking up the results but that's beside the point .
[2] Cards could be handed in the last sunday of the month for
    the records.

I suppose that would depend largely on whether there are many protests through the season where the committee would need the match card - I honestly have no idea if or how often that might happen . I suppose cards could be scanned and mailed when putting up results but in a dispute I guess the hard copy would be needed asap .
[3] Websites cost money yes. But im sure it is possible to create
    revenue from advertising i.e,,Unicorn,,Norton,,etc,,and any
    otherbody which would be interested.

Agreed . Still needs someone with the know-how to set up and maintain (and moderate if there's to be a forum on the site) .

It probably reads that I'm trying to find fault with your suggestion but believe me I'm entirely in agreement with you . It's just that anyone trying to sell this to the committee is going to have to have more answers than questions . Your post goes a long way towards that !

I'll try get irldarts.com up and running again. Just suffered a few technical glitches and the site got deleted by an over zealous IT guy. needless to say I wasn't happy.

The key to making it work will be getting the results to me. Georges 8 always sent me in 5 or 6 of the Tuesday results but the Wednesday results were impossible to get.

I'd quite happily take texts off each captain to confirm results. Keep the table up to date etc.

Give me a while, I'll try find time to get something back up on the site back in a usable format.

    http://dbmnl2011.leaguerepublic.com/

Lads use this website, its free and easy to use.

Lads in our league post up results on here or facebook and all you have to do is put the results in.

We have one for our Monday and Tuesday league.

It'll just keep yous up to date with the league table and fixtures etc...

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,182 ✭✭✭dionsiseire

Well League Republic do have embed code. I could do the site up. Embed the league republic tables and fixture pages onto the site and people can just update the League Republic side of things and I won't have to worry about coding access rights into whatever site I do.

    HOCKY JOCKY.

I have created a site for Syls 8 and I try to keep it up to date as much as I can but basically I find results here on this site.

But might be and idea for team captions / secretaries to either txt a central number with the results then the person in charge of the site can update accordingly - I have added a subpage on our site thats has everyones fixtures and positions in the league - www.syls8.com - I have no problem in updating with everyones results.

I get some results of ncdl on Facebook Dan updates it as soon as he hears results when the cards go in.

But I do think the txt option would work. I have no problem if people want to txt my number ? ?

I'll leave it with yis all.:)

Don't know why all the Dublin leagues don't get together for one well maintained site. With a little willpower it could be done easily.
