    Do you like beer?

I hated "beer" and never drank it, cider and the small ones for me until my girlfriends oul' fella offered me German wheat beer (They're German) and I accepted to be polite..

To my surprise... Delish! I couldn't get the same in a pub here so I gave a pint of Heineken a crack.. I didn't know pissing in a barrel, leaving it there for 6 months had a decent spot in the market.

I like beer, real beer. Do you?

You must be a rarity around your parts, I've never heard of an Irishman who likes beer or any alcoholic drink for that matter.

    Yes, I do

I don't like the "usual" beers. (Heineken, Carlsberg, Bud). Pretty much anything you'd find on the bog-standard taps. I prefer the likes of porterhouse brews or the drinks in bull and castle.

    I'm an adventurous drunk.

Now, I'm off to climb some scaffolding.

Just depends on the beer itself.
I tried many an English made beer, some tasted like watered down slop to be honest but others was passable.
A couple of German beers hit the spot as did a small few of Japanese ones available (One in particular was lethal! Left me pissed as a fart! :D ).

    Beer is yuck
Saying beer is yuck on the basis of the shit you get on draught in most places in this country is akin to saying food is yuck on the basis of only ever tasting goodfellas pizza and birdseye waffles.

If all you're ever tasted is mass produced draught beer in Ireland then you haven't been exposed to about 98% of beer.

    I love beer. Nice beer.

German wheat beer + Belgian witbeir.

And some decent Irish craft beers. :pac:

Most of the rest is muck.

I think a lot of people are afraid to admit they're not too fond of what they drink, but they like the effects of it. :)

I was a cider drinker until I went to Prague for a month; you can't buy bulmers in the Czech Republic for love nor money, or you couldn't a decade ago anyway. So I was reduced to drinking beer.

These days Bulmers can keep their poo-water; give me a nice Staopramen any day. I love sampling the different beers in The Porter House (nyom, nyom, Old Speckled Hen). All the 'normal' stuff is like piss when you get used to the good stuff.

My only problem with 'proper' beer is that it's served at room temperature in the UK. That makes it rank.

I actually gag at the smell of cider. Years of puking the stuff out in fields has soured my taste for it forever. Do also love my Czech beer. Budvar forever.
