    Dont know where you came up with that we dont need these bumps and now holes on bumps, as if they really want people to be safe on the roads the Gardai need to be able to enforce the law which daily I see is not happening

    It's true that the garda traffic units need more resources, but road traffic law enforcement is best by both passive and active measures. Speeding is best enforced by passive measures (road designs, ramps, speed cameras etc)

    Speed ramps work effectively at slowing motorists down. If some are problematic by design (like the ones in private estates etc) then sort them out or ban them and if they are poorly maintained then fix them (as a vast bulk of them in Dublin City have been recently), but some problems is not a reason get rid of them -- fix the problem.

    Some of these ramps are necessary, but they should be constructed to very strict templates regarding height, profile, placement and construction - some ramps are far too high while others are in poor condition. We also need a protocol of appropriate implementation regarding speed ramps or any other traffic calming measure.
