    Jack, the most popular boys’ name, was also most popular within five of the
    eight Regional Authority areas. Daniel was the most popular name in the Dublin region, Conor took
    the number one spot in the Western region and Sean topped the rankings in the Mid-Eastern region.
    The most popular girls’ name, Sophie, was also most popular in the Dublin and South-East regions.
    Emma took the number one spot in the Border and Mid-West regions, Sarah was most popular in the
    Midland and West regions, while Emily topped the rankings in the South-West and Mid-East regions.

    While the top five names for boys and girls topped the rankings within a number of different areas,
    names outside the top 5 were also county and city favourites. For boys, Alex took the number one
    spot in South Dublin and Limerick City. Ryan was the most popular name in Louth and shared the top
    spot with Jack in Kerry. In Galway City, Michael was the most popular name along with Conor, while
    Adam topped the rankings in Sligo.

    For girls, Zuzanna, which ranked 71st overall, took the number one spot in Galway City. Grace was
    most popular in Mayo, and in Sligo, Saoirse shared the top ranking with Emma. Ellie was the most
    popular name in Limerick City, while the number one spots in Cavan and Donegal went to Aoife and
    Chloe respectively. Holly shared the top spot with Emily in Carlow, and Katie ranked first in
    Leitrim and Monaghan.

    For boys where both parents were Irish nationals, Jack was the most popular name. Alexander was the
    most popular choice with parents of UK national- ity. Liam and Jakub were the top ranking boys
    names for parents of the EU15 (excl Irl & UK) and parents of the Accession states respectively.
    Out- side of parents of EU nationality, Muhammad was the highest ranked name of baby boys
    registered in Ireland.


    For girls where both parents were Irish nationals, Emily and Emma were the most popular names.
    Jessica was the most popular girls’ name with parents of UK nationality. Lara and Julia ranked
    first for parents of the EU 15 (excl Irl & Uk) and parents of the Accession states respectively.
    Outside of parents of EU nationality, Maria and Sarah were the names that ranked highest of baby
