I think its a little more complicated than that dave (unless you have insider info!) We need to justify the creation of a new forum and show that we will actually use it and generate traffic on it.
The best place to convince TPTB of that it by keeping this thread active, the thread i created over yonder is the application, but this thread is the proof that the forum will be needed

It's not the usual forum request as it's more to do with helping us with organisation than due to a massive volume of people. It's more a massive volume of posts from 20 users. I also think it'd help the creation of a PS3 league which I'd be more than happy to get off the ground at the beginning.

I agree Ben, tbh I think with our own forum we'd probably be doing 1.5 times our post level in this thread at least considering, we'd have a thread for each human team, results, trades, stats thread, off topic banter etc

And then throw in a PS3 league and it would get a whole lot of traffic from 20-30 users

My own view is that there needs to be a balance of both the number of users active in the forum and the traffic (i mean post count) in a forum.

Lads, willing to listen to offers on Tamba Hali and Patrick Willis.

Offers will need to be good and I'd need decent replacements for both!

    Welcome sports fans!

The new season is upon us!

Drafting, Trading have been rife for the last 2 weeks. Now all the best laid plans will be put to the test. The AFC East expected a AFC Championship game, both teams were dissapointed after suffering loses in the conference games and were sent back to the drawing board.

The Buffalo Bills @ The New York Jets

There are no easy games in the Boards Football League. No game demonstrates this more than week ones Bill @ The Jets. The Jets beat the Bills twice last season. The first game was a blow out for the jets winning by over 24 points. The Second game was much closer with it ending 20-10 to New York. A Tebow fumble being the key play in the game.

The Bills have been the slighty busier of the two in the off season. Arian Foster now is the main threat in Buffalo's back field. Can he live up to the expectations put on his shoulders?

Vinne Jackson has come into Buffalo with some extra swagger. He knows with Tim Tebow as quarterback will give him the best chance to hit the most receiving yards in the league. :pac: Jackson came at a price, Charles Woodson will finish out his last 2 season in football at the Arizona Cardinals. The Bills backfield is no longer a game changer a young Kyle Wilson will have help from his safties for most of the game.

The Jets on offense have made signings to improve there passing attack. Plaxico Buress has been brought to help the Jets favoured Bunch offense on both run blocking and short route running. The Jets run game will be the same wrecking ball it was last season. Mike Thomas has been brought in to stretch the field, this should help Rodgers favorite target Dustin Keller get open easier in the middle of the field.

The Jets defense will as always create pressure with an excellent pass rush. Will Barnes at Linebacker create as many problems as last year? It will be hard for Barnes to hit 16 sacks again this season, but im not betting against it. The Bills O-line held up well last year against the Jet's. New York will need to contain both Foster and Woodhead in the backfield and with rumours of the Bills using the pistol formation this year it could make it difficult for the Jets defensive coordinator to pick the right play to prevent big runs.

Its obvious both teams will try and run the other into the ground. I see a stalemate here. Both teams will score running on the ground and eat up clock. So this game will come down to both teams being able to keep the others Top receiver quiet. The Jets Dustin Keller had 686 yards last season, With Thomas keeping the safties honest down field, Keller could have a big game and a 1000+ yards this season. Buffalo have added Calvin Pace to the defense in the off season. The Bills will look to use different schemes to get Pace's pass rushing ability to create a game changing moment. The pass rush will need to get to Rodgers otherwise he'll find the weaknesses in the Bills defensive schemes.

The Bills will attempt to use Jackson and Watson in tandem creating mismatches for 1st downs. If the Jets concentrate to much on Buffalo's quality receivers. The Bills unsung hero's could make the game winning play.

    Predicition

Vegas has the spread at 3 and 1/2 to the Jets . Many a gambler see's value in the Bills in this one !

Until next time sport fans !

    Very good QB
Decent replacements for Hali and Willis
    DT Upgrade
    Very good CB
and an upgrade along the O-line if possible.

I could also add in a player or two to help with any potential switches.

Are we enforcing the 56 man roster this season? I think this was mentioned to prevent people snapping up a load of free agents.

Also there was talk of not being allowed to trade or drop a free agent once you have picked them up, is this also going to go ahead as a rule?

Would you consider getting Locker a very good QB? :D I've got D'Qwell Jackson who's an 86 rated MLB too so he'd be adequate as a replacement for Willis? :)

Rob is that draft picked CB in FA or somewhere? Forgot that you have to manually trade him or something.

Titans @ Buccs and the Buccs receive

They make good progress in the air and then run it into the the end zone on a short rush.

The Titans get the kick off and cant do anything and have to punt

The Buccs again are moving down the field with ease but at a cost, a WR suffering a broken jaw :D

But it doesnt stop the pirate ship and the Buccs go 0-14 up.

The Buccs suffer another serious injury.. a broken thumb:eek:

The Titans make very good progress in the air and Orton fumbles on the 24 and the Titans O-line stand and watch as the Buccs recover

Mathis makes it to the QB for a 10 yard sack and the Buccs have to punt with 2 mins left in the half

The Titans put together a 55 second drill with Orton and Best and then Camarillo getting into the end zone.
7-14 with just over a minute in the half.
The Buccs over throw and then punt with 0:36 on the clock.

The Titans get called on a delay of game and then give up an int.

    7-14 at the half.

    Titans receive

The Titans go to the screen pass and dont get anything except third and long and then they throw a pick and it's going to be a very uphill struggle from here.

The Buccs go up the field and covert a couple of thirds and then literally walk in to end zone

7-21 with 9:26 in the game

The Titans throw to the TE in in acres of space and on the way to the end zone he doesnt catch it.
Then in a repeat of the first pick, they go to Breaston and it's picked again.

The Titans get a pick in their red zone just as the 3rd comes to an end.
Orton gets sacked for the 100th time but redeems himself by hitting Best to get out of a 3rd and 18

Orton gets the Titans up the field but throws another pick with under 5 in the game.

Willis then gets a pick himself and there may be hope!

Or maybe not.. after another sack Orton throws another pick

Then Buccs get a FG but not after Mathis actually runs right through the Buccs QB as if hes a ghost!

The Titans have 23 seconds and 2 TOs to get a score.

An Orton gets picked again and the Titans head coach is wondering what does he need to do to sort out his QB problem...

Final score Titans 7 Buccs 24.

    Some stats

    Titans Offense 13 rushing :o 123 passing
to the Buccs 102 rushing and 144 in the air
Freeman has a QB rating of 50 while Orton is 30

Forte gets 103 yards while the great hope of Best gets 10 yards :confused:
But Best gets himself 98 yards in the air to (very slightly) redeem himself.

    Good chatting steve!

Just for next seasons draft, is it not the case if we all didn't go into private chats/groups that we could hear/chat to all on the draft page itself. I'm asking cos i felt left out:(. I also didn't figure out how to get onto the free agency page so missed out there aswell. I think i owe heli a player but couldn't get in touch last nite to find out what he wanted.

Dunno what everyone else thinks about the game times for the regular season. I would like to see for the regular season possibly increase from 7 minutes to 8 minutes as there are now far more human v human games. Running the ball can mean very few posessions and much more difficulty in a come from behind.

We use 10 minutes for the playoffs and that is absolutely ideal.

Sounds good. Also Bastardprince i'm about to head online

Both teams were run out of the stadium amid howls of disgust from angry fans at the offense on display here :o

No scoring in the first quarter
A FG apiece for Mike Nugent [Ravens] and Neil Rackers [Colts] in the second
No scoring either in the third quarter
And in the end, a Mike Nugent FG at the start of the fourth quarter won it

Both GMs were very active in the offseason and it left the coaches with a lot of new pieces to work on

Ravens still hurt by the shock retirement of starting HB Thomas Jones, the GM was recently seen trying to tempt him back.
And so the Ravens put in ex-Colt Reggie Bush who has ten carries for thirty three yards. But thirty of those came on one stretch play, he was ineffective the rest of the game.
Ravens coach benched him for Marion Barber and it was back to AFC North football, power run, straight ahead.
Bush came back later for a forty four yard quick slant, that seems to be the best way to use him

Philip Rivers with a rating of fifty seven, not a good day but Vernon Davis was decent, six catches for eighty four yards.

New Ravens QB Sam Bradford zero TD's and zero Int, looked efficent but a bit of improvement to do.
One highlight was backpedalling furiously away from a charging Brian Urlacher and athletically getting a pass off, no way backup QB McNabb could do that

These tight nervous affairs come down to defensive battles and who can turn the ball over. Excellent D on display from both team and run games well and truly shut down

Despite claims from the Bills, the Ravens are confident they have the best safety tandem in the league, Eric Weddle FS with a crucial interception and Eric Berry SS with a diving pass deflection on third down late in the game.

Glenn Dorsey RE was game MVP with three sacks
But full credit to the Colts Oline as it was very solid apart from that and Philip Rivers getting great protection.

Both coaches have some work to do, and so on to Week Two

    Nice chatting to you McG

Giants and The Rams unable to play due to connection issues, hella frustrating as I was looking forward to the new season. We will try again tomorrow.

Whats odd is we were able to play in a public game, just not the boards game

I have a few offers on the table Ben....
So the jury is out at the moment on what will happen to the finest MLB in the league (who did come up with an int today - a diamond in the rough!)

On a positive note, no connection issues for the Titans earlier :D

Superbowl hangover for the AFC Champions.

The interception and the 2 penalties were the difference here. The interception basically gave the Ravens the winning FG after both defences had very solid starts to the new season. Both offences will need to improve drastically if they're to challenge.

First game for the Raiders against CPU dolphins and it's a rout. 35-6. If I didn't go for a hail mary at the end of the first half Schaub would've had a QB rating near perfect, 15-19 175 yds, 2 TDs 1 INT. Jones-Drew got 127 yds and a score, Sammy Morris getting 10 yards and a score. Rashean Mathis came up with a pick-6 to put Oakland up 28-6 before Schaub ran up the score on the final play (don't worry I only do that to CPUs, if I'm lucky enough to be in that position against a human I won't run up the score). Britt, Ocho both anonymous, TEs combined for 16 yards, Welker got 2 yds and a score, while my speedster Beasley got 73 yards and a score, Jones-Drew got 60 yards receiving, and Jones got 24. Nice start.

Mistake free ball is the name of the game. No sacks or penalties either.

Just finished playing Falcons (notyalc666) at Panthers after 2 disconnects, while notyalc666 was leading both times. Falcons won 21-14, with Steven Jackson putting on a show with 200+ rushing yards. The Panthers only managed to put up a paltry 120 yards, with only 20 through the air. Ryan Grant nabbed the first Panthers TD of the season and the other was a pick 6.

Falcons have a very good team and will definitely ruffle a few feathers in the NFC North this season.
