construction find

    hi all, i found this on a construction job in the mid 90,s, has anyone any idea what it is? its brass or bronze and about 10cm wide and 2.5cm high. the 4 decorative bits on the side are attached to the main piece. any help on this would be great, thanks

    It's hard to get an idea of the size of the object.
    I'll guess that it is part of a Victorian or Edwardian lamp or similar fitting.

    The archaeology branch of the National Museum on Kildare Street usually can assist with identification. I believe its possible to send photos to them.
