grand canal docks pike?

Hi there. I was just wondering is dead baiting at the grand canal docks a time wasting? i saw few 10-20 pounders in canal from dolphins barn to northcumberland rd. (biggest i landed was around 85cm). But this was a long (5-6 years) ago. Any one tried recently?

There was a fish kill in the gcd a few years ago
Might be worth googling to see what was found
From memory a lot of eels......
