1. What is your budget? €700

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming [Skyrim, Fallout, Dragonage, Etc]

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? Yes

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? Nope

5. Do you need a monitor? No

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [Will be hooking it up to my 1920x1080 59" Plasma TV] [Upgrade = No]

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? Will be a wired connection. Card Reader a plus but not essential. Don't need anything else

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [No] Not till I get more confident

8. How can you pay? [Credit Card/Laser]

9. When are you purchasing? Whenever TBH

10. If you need help building it, where are you based? South Dublin but want to try myself.

This build is more CPU-strong than GPU-strong, but that'll work for Skyrim at least.

Fill out whatever the form tells you to fill out. I did the transfer in the bank when i made my order, So i did have to fill things like my name and address, Not sure if its the same online.

I think they use the "Intended Purpose" field to link the bank transfer to your specific order, So make sure that's included.

Got this yesterday and all was going well. Put it all together, plugged it in flicked the switch and bugger. It tripped the switch in the hall circuit box.

Am I in posession of an expensive coffee table, or has the PSU blown?

I suppose you could try it with the bare minimum.
Disconnect the power. Take the motherboard out of the case. Connect the CPU + heatsink, PSU and RAM.
Reconnect the power and start it by shorting the two power pins with a screwdriver/piece of metal (where you connect the case switches to the motherboard). If something similar happens again, it's most likely the PSU or possibly the motherboard.

Looks to be the PSU.
Took the board out and connected new psu and nothing.
Stripped and old weak psu from old pc and that started the boot up

Glad to hear your computer on the whole is ok. Could've been an expensive debacle! What PSU are u using now? Do you think it's a faulty Amazon 550w PSU or not enough power in a working PSU?

What was it powering? 2500K and a 6850? That's looooaads of room for a 550W PSU. You could put in a second 6850 and you'd still be ok.

Since the other PSU works, you can deem the new PSU as faulty. You were just unlucky with the PSU. It can happen regardless of what brand or PSU you buy. Maybe they sometimes get damaged in shipping, but I've found that, like hard drives, they either break very early on or keep going for years. Unless you get a cheap PSU in which case it's a randomly ticking timebomb.

Will wait to get this one up and running then that is an interesting proposition.

Already in the process of sending the PSU back. Fingers crossed this time.
