    Hey fellow boardies,

Just a quick question on umbrellas. I need to get on today and am on campus. Got one before in the great outdoors but dont want to spend 15 odd euro for it and walk in the rain for it.

    Any ideas guys?
If there were a Heatons store in Galway i'd be sorted (3 euro windproof ones for sale)

    cheers in advance.

They sell nice NUIG umbrellas in the Quad but they are pricey, to say the least.

I think you can borrow one from the SU if you let them hold on to your ID card. Or maybe I just dreamed that. It seems plausible though...

edit: I read the post as though you only needed the umbrella for getting around for the day. Upon further reflection, the SU option might be of no use to you.
Also - why not buy some raingear? It is more effective than any umbrella in squally Galway.

thanks for that. I just don't understand why nobody goes out of their way to sell umbrellas on campus. Surely a killing would be made, especially on days like today. Imagine if you sold proper umbrellas for 6 euro, they'd sell like hot buns. Might propose it to the SU shop :)

If the SU Shop sold umbrellas they'd make an additional €200 profit from me every semester :pac:

With the wind and all, I'd say you're right :P
It takes real skill and pure DEADLINESS to be able to walk around galway, taming your umbrella to the forces of nature! If you feel lucky, walk across the quincintinia bridge or even by the front of the new engineering building entrance (that place has unbelievable eddys).

I propose they sell different colour umbrellas for different months, then the really deadly guys can be identified around campus.
