Ambient Drone

10-01-2012 11:58PM#1Been getting into a bit of ambient drone music over the past year. Despite the sometimes inaccessible nature of the music I find that in the right mood the music can be transcendental, immersive and overwhelmingly beautiful.
I'm always looking to discover new artists like this but here are some that are really amazing.

I would highly, highly, highly (highly!) recommend the album Blanck Mass by Blanck Mass. Its one I glanced at a few times in Tower but only went for it a couple of weeks before Christmas. It is a stunning album from start to finish... an example being this absolute gem:

Ambient Drone is one of my all time favourite genres and it's a good time to get into it because over the past couple of years there have been some great releases, not just from Kranky, but from smaller labels with limited runs. It's a very satisfying genre because you can pick up all sorts of hidden gems if you go looking for them0 -
