I'm trying to get Unblock US going, but I'm suspecting that I have a problem.

I have updated the TCP IPs in my Apple TV as detailed, and the Primary and Secondary DNS on the router too, restarted everything, but when I run the Check Service on the Unblock US site, its still telling me I have a setup problem.

I'm suspecting, having checked their FAQs, that Vodafone may not allow it due to DNS hijacking?

Also, I was on an Irish Netflix Free Trial - assume I need a different email address and a different credit card to sign up to US Netflix?

No you don't. I signed up for the Irish netflix and can now access the US site without re-reg.(unblock-us on PS3).

I'm on Vodafone broadband and it works perfectly on my PS3.

You don't need a new Netflix account. When you sign in it assumes you are travelling.

Have 4oD, BBC iPlayer and US Netflix all running great on PS3 thanks to Unblock us, but ITV/UTV player is asking for a postcode, I tried several NI/UK postcodes to no avail, and when I try to access it via the browser it says that Internet Explorer is out of date...any ideas??

Same problem here. US NetFlix/4oD/BBC iPlayer all working fine with UnblockUs for me but ITV player won't accept any postcodes i enter! Have googled it and can't find a solution! Does anyone how how to get ITV player working on ps3 using UnblockUs

I had it working on my PS3. I entered a Luton postcode that I knew and it accepted it.

It's not great tbh. Browser based.

For a HTPC, what's wrong with the web interface on their site? You don't need any app and it's virtually the same...

Web interface does not do 5.1 audio and video quality doesnt look as good as on my Xbox imo.

I have tried reading through the thread but I'm genuinely lost on this....

Do I need a Play Station to access US net flicks or can it be done via a normal web browser?

Any nod in the right direction very much appreciated.

I'm based/physically located in Ireland, using Win7 64Bit with IE8, also have a VPN service (Purevpn) (used to emulate me being in the USA)

I can easily access US Netflix when running through the VPN.

So to answer your specific question - you don't need a Playstation to access US Netflix.

I'm lucky enough to have a Playstation3, which I have reconfigured to use the UnBlock-US DNS IP addresses & also have US Netflix setup on that. Its super being able to watch on TV (in addition to the PC).

Quality is excellent - actually wasn't expecting it to be as good as it is - perfect for viewing, really clear, no artifacts etc.. (I have 100MB UPC BB connection & have the PS3 connected into my router directly via LAN cable).

I have a HP Touchpad with Android loaded onto it (dual boots between the standard WebOS & Android) & have US Netflix setup on that too, along with BBC iPlayer etc.. Its fantastic on the HP Touchpad.

    Hope you get sorted soon.

I've US Unblock up and running on my PS3 and ipad - able to access US Netflix no problem on both devices.
However, I noticed on the weekend that when I launched TuneIn Radio on my ipad it wouldn't connect to any radio streams. Tried connecting on the wife's iphone (which hasn't been us-unblocked) and it connected no problem).
I'm wondering if changing the DNS settings on the ipad have caused the app to stop working - has anyone else noticed anything like this?

Over a week since I started using the UnblockUS DNS settings on my PS3 and it is still working with no issues at all. I never signed up with an email address for the free trial. Will it just keep working now?

Who knows? Not likely though I'd say..

.. otherwise, everyone would be doing it! ;)

Yes - noticed something similar with my VPN service when I tried to connect with my VPN servers on my HP Touchpad running Android (which has the Unblock US DNS IP addresses entered) - I couldn't connect to the servers & use my VPN.

But on another Android device which hasn't got the Unblock US DNS IP entries, everything works fine & I can connect with the VPN servers.

    Hi Bonoman,

If you need a VPN service, switching to OverplayVPN will give you a very good full VPN service, combined with their DynamicDNS option (same service as Unblock-us) for a total cost of US$9.95pm. Very good company to deal with.

Ok went on the American one over the weekend and ok it is better but IMHO not worth th Unblock-US sub to keep it , in fact I had to go back to the Irish one as the shows I was watching was not on the american one i.e Dexter and Misfits

The amount of whining going on about how the cost is to much for the selection on offer is ridiculous. Between the two stores there are hundreds of thousand of hours of film and tv to watch, some of which has never been released on DVD. If you can't find 100 films a month to justify the cost then wither you have very selective tastes or have seen the vast majority of films ever made. I'm planning on watching Mother later on tonight, the DVD was 18 euro in HMV last week and the Blu-Ray a tenner more. That's the guts of 3 months Netflix for the price of the DVD and a full months for the Blu. It is value for money.

Thanks very much for pointing that out - really appreciate it - must check them out again when I'm planning to switch provider. Happy with Pure just at present & wanted to test out SSTP which I don't think Overplay offered when I originally checked their service out.

Much obliged for you highlighting Overplay again as I hadn't really considered their DDNS option previously.

    I actually meant 10 films a month both 100.

I personally am not complaining about price and content what I was trying to put across is for what I would use it for i.e watching breaking bad , dexter and misfits then paying netflix sub and unblock us sub would not be worth it but paying just for netflix sub then ya defo worth it

Is this supposed to play HD content on the PS3 as well? If I choose a title that is listed as "HD", it still plays in SD (so it says on the top left corner when I press the 'select' button). The PS3 is on wireless at the moment, so maybe the connection isn't fast enough? I've chosen the best quality in the video settings.

Depends on your internet connection AFAIK. I use a PS3 and wireless Vodafone 20mb broadband always reaches the highest HD output (X-High HD)

I've noticed recently though that Netflix is having to buffer once or twice in the middle of what I'm watching though which is annoying.

Have you changed your settings for netflix on their website? I watched a couple of things on PS3 in SD before changing on the site. have accessed HD content since the change

Netflix are known for throttling the streams of heavy users so it would not surprise me if those of use who are actively using the service are being punished. I've noticed that it's had to buffer once or twice during a film or stop completely over the past few days. For the first week and a half it was lightning fast and never stopped.

This, I watched a film called bunraku which I would never have seem otherwise, this then recommended ip man and ip man 2, that's three awesome movies I got to see that I never would have thought about previously, definite value for money in my eyes.

Missus tried watching a film last night and couldn't stand the buffering. maybe it was a general problem

I do think the layout is confusing a lot of people. I know it was confusing me at first, I took it that the front page was the bulk of their catalogue. It took a couple of days to figure out that there are thousands and thousands of titles, if you use the search function. On the foreign movie section alone, I reckon theres enough to keep me going for a few months!

Of course there are others that will moan about anything, especially if it isnt free.

Yourself and Darko are talking about what is available if you have access to the US site content too right?.

Is there a way to get this instant queue set up on your PS3?
I think then you could browse netflix on a pc and add movies to a queue.
The PS3 could then read the queue.
I see mentions of activation codes, etc but there seems to be no options in the PS3 app other than search or watch.

This has probably been asked but if I create another fb account at the end of the month, can I get another free trial?

Is there anyway to see the whole collection on offer at the moment without signing up?

FFS! It's 7e you Goddamn cheapskate!

I signed up for unblockus on my logitech revue last week and when I now attempt to access BBC iplayer, 4oD and ITV player, I am redirected to an unblockus page prompting me to pay a subscription for continued access.

However, I am still able to access Netflix -US so it will be interesting to see how much longer this will last.
