Just lol at "literally" beaten no good teams. We're 7-0 against teams with a .500 record. Playing the Patriots will increase your chances of having a losing record.

We've beaten every team we should, same can't be said of the Ravens.

Is there anyone easier to wind up than a Patriots fan? :-)

Who is this Masked Man? Logan Mankins? Deion Branch? Patrick Chung? Only, I assume it is actually one of the Patriots 53, - "we've beaten every team we should", "not our fault", "we're 7-0". I can't imagine BB would be very pleased if he knew you were posting on Boards the night before a big game. :D

Love the way when someone posts something stupid or their own opinion about the Pats on the forum and Pats fans reply and contradict them and all of a sudden their original post then becomes a wind up post. And of course no matter what we reply with we are also wound up. And people wonder why then us Pats fans on here find it hard taking any of you serious about debates involving the Pats.

Just to give people an idea of the weather here at the minute! I'm around 15 miles from Foxborough so conditions are the same there at the minute!

Has been snowing all day and just after stopping now, the original forecast was for 6inches this morning and it would be gone by early afternoon, but that didn't happen! There's no snow due tomorrow but goes knows since they've been fairly off the last couple of days!

I was wearing snow boots and the snow was up to the top of them!

Not much talk really of the NFC championship game on this thread.

I have to say I'm really looking forward to this. As a 49ers fan I would have been happy with 8/9 wins this year ad restoring a bit of dignity, but having come so far, and beating the saints I would be devastated should the niners lose tomorrow.

I have a half day booked for Monday so I'll be able to stay up and enjoy the game without worrying about getting up in the morning.

The game itself I think will be close. Similar to the Saints the Giants will probably put up a lot of yards but hopefully the 49ers can limit them to FG's in the red zone. I think it's important that SF can shut down the run game and also that they can get pressure on Eli without too much blitzing.

Forecast is for rain so I'd be hopeful SF can get their run game going with Gore and Hunter and hopefully just about squeeze through.

In the other game I think it will be quite close, I find it very difficult to call but I don't see the patriots running away with it. If NE can protect Brady I think they'll win, if the ravens can get pressure on him then they have a chance.

I'd probably take NE to win a close one, probably by less than 7.

Can't wait for these games tomorrow, only disappointment is that I've got to be up before 7 on Monday

Anyway, my thoughts for what they're worth:

First and foremost as a Ravens fan I hope that they can do the business. Even though it's my first season as an NFL fan it would be nice for a team I support to have some success for once :pac:

I think the key here is the obvious one - Tom Brady and the Ravens D. Get the likes of Suggs at Brady and it'll be very close. Give him time in the pocket and he'll go up and down the field all day long.

The lack of plaudits for Joe Flacco seems to be really getting to him mind and the Ravens offense could do with a big game from him, especially as 17 of 20 points last week came off Houston mistakes and there's no way the Patriots will be that generous. If he can come up with a big game then surely people will have to start taking notice in the way that he would like so he'll be fired up.

This game is really going to be a classic offense V defense match-up, but I'm sadly going to have to say I can see Brady being the match winner here and the Patriots taking it by a touchdown.

The NFC game seems to have a lot less build up (perhaps because I've been concentrating a lot more on the AFC game for obvious reasons) but will be just as good, if not better a game as the AFC, IMO. The Giants have peaked at completely the right time and the 49ers have had a superb season built largely on a great defence.

Is it just me or can anyone see this coming down to the special teams battle? From what I've seen the 49ers have a superb punter in Lee and a superb kicker in Akers. Lee can give great field position for the 49ers and I'm going to say that coupled with home advantage will see San Francisco taking this one.

I think that both games are extremely hard to call. If Ed Reed is not his usual self then its advantage New England but if he is fully fit to go then I think it will be real tight. I think it comes down to Joe Flacco who I don't rate at all, if the Patriots can pressure him then I think they win.

Still I expect it to be a tough game even if that happens. I think its just impossible to call the other game. The Giants D has stepped up big in the last couple of weeks and the 49ers D has been doing that all year. Really looking forward to both games.

Ravens are a ridiculously big price for the Superbowl at 15/2 imo. I'll be on them big time tomorrow on the +7.5 handicap.

Anyway, for anyone thinking of backing the Ravens tomorrow, consider this. The Ravens are a general 5/2 tomorrow (best price 11/4). They are 15/2 for the superbowl. If they beat NE in NE tomorrow, it's virtually certain they'll go into the SB as favorites, or at best 10/11 or so.

    Option A: Ravens to win, €100 @ 11/4. €375-€100= €275 Profit if Ravens win.

Option B: Ravens to win Superbowl €100 @ 15/2 (€850 total back). Ravens win AFC title. NFC Champs available @ Evens for SB. Put €425 on NFC team.

    Ravens win: €850-€425-€100= €325 profit.

NFC team win: €850-€425-€100= €325 profit.

Might seem like a lot of work, but thats a 20% increase (more in the likely case the ravens go into SB as favs) on your returns. Don't let bookies screw you over

What I said wasn't meant as a wind up, it's just that any suggestion that the Patriots aren't god's gift to the NFL is met with indignation from Pats fans, and they get wound up at the slightest comment.
Not sure why, but many Pats fans get very defensive, and take it personally, if anyone dares to question the utter brilliance of their team. For the record, no-one contradicted me, as what I said was fact - New England has not beaten a team that finished with a winning record all season. There is no contradiction possible.
My point is that how good the Patriots really are remains to be seen. Yet this opinion is immediately treated as blasphemy by Pats fans. It's true of the fans of many sports teams, but especially so of Pats fans for some reason - rationality goes out the window when trying to discuss their team and everything becomes personal. You could do with taking yourselves a little less seriously.

Webb CB on Welker, he'll be shut down

Pollard [Pats fans know him :)] on Hernandez. Thirty pound difference but Pollard is very physical, he'll shut him down.

LB McClain and strong and physical CB Jimmy Smith for Gronk, he deserves a double team. Experienced CB Chris Carr or LB Brendon Ayanbadejo can sub in also.

    CB Cary Williams on Branch
Chad Johnson? He rarely sees the field but young CB Danny Gorrer can come for a package to deal with him

I'm leaving out a few Pats recievers but that's it for now

Ngata, Cody, Redding up front. I expect a monster game from Redding.
Suggs, Ray Lewis, Jameel McClain and Jarret Johnson

Nobody runs outside Suggs and Johnson, the Texans tried and failed. Stretch plays will not work

It'll be a repeat of two years ago, a beatdown

I am pretty sure we don't. Folk on here just dont like the barrage of Pats fans responding as there is a fair few of us. When more than one responds all of a sudden we are supposed to be "wound up"
Not sure why, but many Pats fans get very defensive, and take it personally, if anyone dares to question the utter brilliance of their team.

As for the bit in bold  Pure absolute nonsense. Read over all the threads over the last season and you will see Pats fans including myself have bad mouthed how bad we played this season at times.
My point is that how good the Patriots really are remains to be seen. Yet this opinion is immediately treated as blasphemy by Pats fans.

blasphemy? Sensationalist much? People pointed out alternative views as to the stat or fact you brought up. Hardly anyone getting wound up.
It's true of the fans of many sports teams, but especially so of Pats fans for some reason - rationality goes out the window when trying to discuss their team and everything becomes personal. You could do with taking yourselves a little less seriously.

Absolute nonsense yet again and nothing more than a pathtic generalisation. Its funny I post on other general football forums and this is the only one where many teams are involved that people make these silly comments about Pats fans being wound up and the worst at it

So what it boils down to basically is you don't like what Pats fans reply back to you with and then you make smart comments like how easy we get wound up when in fact no one got wound up. None of the replies made back to you were any fans getting wound up. Just because you own perception sees it that way doesn't make it so. What is clear here is the fact you didn't like the response given to you and you straight away went down the road of saying pPats fans this Pats fans that Pats fans do this Pats fans do that.

You see this is the problem here. When a Pats fan responds all of a sudden we are the bad guys and no matter what we say becomes us getting defensive or getting wound up or some nonsense like that. And it seems when the op of a post sees so many Pats fans reply to them they get sand in their vag or make stupid comments about the above. Its easy for some it seems in here to join the camp of other posters who just plain hate Pats fans and will use the wound up notion or other nonsense to discredit anything made in reply to them.

Tbh I remember a time when I entered this forum [under another username ;)] where there was a Patriots thread and no other team had one

It's not for Patriots fans to post less, it's for other fans to post more

Paully D started a Ravens thread which has lots of videos and photos, we have a Packers thread and a Broncos thread and now every team has fans in the census thread

I think you Sir need to take yourself a little less seriously

As for Pats fans being defensive, in my few years following American sports the East coast media can be merciless and the harshest Patriots critics are actually Patriots fans themselves.
This goes for baseball too which I'm trying to get into, not just football. Media can be very harsh

In this forum the biggest rows were once Patriots fans vs Patriots fans :D

But we're here to talk football, have strong debates and never ever take something personally :)

I wouldn't claim to know a lot about the Patriots

But a player that stood out last game was LB Rob Ninkovich

All over the field making tackes, he was damn impressive
A quick google tells me he is a fifth round pick five years ago, could be a late developer and a gem

I think now is a good time to post the following video of the last time the giants and the 49ers met in the play-offs, what a game that was :)

I'm not sure what you expected. you made a point that they hadnt beaten a winning team, people said they beat whats in front of them, and then you come back and say Patriots fans are the easiest to wind up.

while some fans may be over sensitive at times and take thing to heart too much, the above isnt a case of that. do you expect no one to reply to you, or did you expect everyone just to agree with you?

The Giants are going to the Superbowl. They will hit the 49ners by 7+ over on the West Coast.

You didn't get what you wanted and tried to make it something it wasn't and banging that same drum doesn't make you anymore valid in your claims.

As for taking it personally and taking themselves to serious? haha Yeah thats what I did. That old gem of a line can't beat it.

Begs the question had non Pats fans responded to you with the same answers would you have banged the same drum? I bet you anything you wouldn't.

yeah I cant call the NFC game at all. The Giants are on a serious run of hugely important knock out games, since literally the Jets game in week 15. Then Cowboys, and then playoffs. If they pull it off, it will surpass, IMO, their run in 07 as 6th seeds. Their form has been great, but I'm just wondering will they go back to their faltering ways to end up with a poor reg season record. Bradshaw has been key though. Keeps defence honest, and puts in a good shift with the ball.

    I think I'll take a double of:

    Tom -7
    Giants -3.5.

    1.91 and 2.62 gives me a total of 5.0 (4/1).
