Guys, my dad just got his UPC HD+ box today.
He has a Philips 42" HD Ready TV, bought in 2006.

In the HD box settings it has a few different options for the HD format :
    1. 720p
    2. 1080i
    3. Auto

Which setting should i have the box at?
    Thanks.

Best to try both 1080i and 720p to see which one is better. All tv's are different when it comes to the quality of the resolution. You can set it to auto also and the box will put it on the one it thinks your tv is capable of.
