SO my wife is Indian...and was over there on a trip home.

she brought me back a jumper with a little patch of the British flag about 2cm by 1cm.

I said to her, I cant wear that with the flag on it ill get a different patch to cover it. (you cant just simply remove it).

The argument that ensued was unreal.

Just wondering if there is Irish ppl out there who would wear it and am I just being totally pedantic.

I have a pair of Reebok that have a small British flag on them. Couldn't care less. One lad made remark about it to me one day. My response to him was why did he support Man United if he was so set against anything to do with England etc. He shut up and never mentioned it again.

Have to laugh at all the scummers walking about in Eire 32 Celtic jerseys buying Reebok runners with blaring Union Jacks on them.

OP, to answer your question, I would in me hole. :pac:

You're clearly a hardline Republican itching to have a good ol' "Up da Ra!!" chant and to, as they say, "kneecap someone" by refusing to wear this.

You, sir, are worse than Hitler!

    I wouldn't wear it either.
In fact, i gave up wearing reebok runners when they start putting the union jack on the side. Why would any irish person want to wear a british flag? (apart from the usual twats who feel a need to show how progressive (ie submissive) they are, but who gives a fúck about them!)

No, But most other flags would be acceptable apart from maybe the American.

Presumably you also refuse to visit Britain or watch any programme broadcasted by a British TV channel or use any product that comes from Britain as well......in case you catch the Britain off them?

Refusing to wear the flag is not the same thing as any of those.

Yes if it's part of the maker's design. But not around Belfast.

I wonder would united, chelsea, city etc fans wear the jerseys if there was a small patch of a british flag on it?

I'd wear it. I've a watch with the print of the British flag on the face.

No i wouldn't and i wouldn't expect a British person to wear clothing with an Irish/German/French/'Insert random country here' flag on it.

I have friends that are british and they would question me as to why i was wearing clothing with a union jack on it.

Some countries flags just look good or have a perceived cool vibe about them, the Union Flag just isn't one of them...

That's completely different. I watch programmes and films from around the world. Likewise I read books by authors and use products from other countries but I wouldn't wear the flags of those nations.

I'm going to get flamed for this but to me it was a symbol of colonial oppression all over the world not just here in Ireland.

    I wouldn't wear it the same way I wouldn't wear a swastika.

Yeah, me too actually. Flags aren't really a good look though to be honest.

But I would definitely never wear the Union Jack on anything. Why? Because I'm not British, and if unless you are, wearing someone else's flag is just plain weird.

Yes exactly, because watching tv shows is exactly the same as wearing a national emblem. Sure don't anti American groups regularly burn back catalogues of America's next top model.

I wouldn't wear it either no more than I would wear a t shirt with Osama bin ladens face on the front.

No problem, wear away. It's a personal choice, I've no problem with you or anyone else wearing whatever they like.
