I do, I was dad to a 2 year old at the time...
    I had more hair too.
I sometimes had some blonde highlights in it.
I had a nipple ring as well, being down with the hip kids an'all...

Maybe I'm sharing too much :(

Just after buying one of these superguns. Had a good chat with the guy who makes them, seems really sound. By far the best price for something like this I've come across.

Nice, how much was shipping if you don't mind?

€20. So €109 in total. Best deal I think you're ever going to get on one of this standard!

I've been watching a different one on ebay all week which was a good deal at 130 sterling. Probably would have bought it too if the guy didn't want 50 sterling postage.

He's posting it out to me tomorrow, so I'll let you all know how it is once it arrives.

Couple of other things he told me about it in emails -

sound goes through scart, so there's no need for a 3.5mm jack or your own speakers.

The power supply is 350 W, so he said it can handle up to a Neo Geo 6 slot easily.

The RGB pots are totally adjustable, so you can play about with colours if it's not coming through correctly.

    Takes Neo Geo sticks.

Has a kick harness, but you'd need to make your own controller to work with that.

Only downside is he said he makes them as a hobby, so doesn't really make any money from them other than to cover costs. Just likes to see people enjoying their use. The down side to that being they take him a while. So if you want one I'd buy one quick.

edit - do make sure you wait until I receive mine though. It's not a standard ebay auction. It's ebay classifieds. Which is like ebay's version of adverts.ie. I'm covered with paypal and my credit card, but just to be sure. Would hate to recommend something to someone and have them stung.

I always worry about this. I built one a few years ago & the whole concencus was not to do this. The reason being was that sound from most game boards is amplified on the game board itself normally, & to then send that already amped signal into a tv, where it's amped again, could be very bad for the tv.

Maybe he uses some kind of gizmo that gets around it I don't know.

Andrew76 was just reminding me about JAMMA boards being amplified recently. Completely forgot to ask this guy about it though! Damn.

He did say he's been making them for a couple of years though..and over on Arcade Otaku there seems to be a way of doing it through scart. So fingers crossed!

I have been using a Vogatek Supergun, just a bare board with everything I needed on board,
    Vogatek Mk3
This comes with an RGB scart and a block for wiring in a joystick.
    Vogatek Mk 1
This a nice one for starting and comes with Megadrive pad ports instead of a block for the arcade sticks.
And this is my new one, this will accept two Neo Geo controllers,
    Vogatek Supergun Mk5
This also has S-video and composite.

Now, they are not as neat as the consolised Supergun previously mentioned but they come in enough variants to serve most needs, they are very compact and cheap.

Those Vogatek superguns are a great solution. I've been using one up until now and would continue to do so if not for the fact that I need something a bit neater.

Unfortunately unlike yourself I don't currently have somewhere to keep it connected up all the time. Having to lug around an ATX PSU and the like was enough of an annoyance for me never to take the thing out!

Hmm, you'd need some sort of case, some sort of "cabinet" if you will, to put the motherboard, supergun and power supplies into.
If it's a large enough "cabinet" you could put a display in there as well!
Hmm, I think there is a future in this gaming cabinet business!
Maybe we could place them in shopping precincts, or "arcades"...
    .
    ..
    ...
    "Arcade Cabinets"!!!

Quickly, get me the number of the patent office!

Sweet! Got a free download of kid Icarus on the 3ds for registering eligible games. Also only 1000 or so points away from getting the game & watch collection

I got that myself the other day.
I'm definitely not overwhelmed the way I was with Kirby, perhaps I'm missing something?

Haven't played it myself yet, just checked my email and the code for it arrived.

As I've said before Kid Icarus is a bit of a crappy game. The best thing about it is the music. It's also ridiculously unbalanced. It's bastard hard until you beat the first dungeon and then you level up so much that the rest of the game is a cake walk.

Update: Received the golf cart for the mega drive today, and it works fine!

    13077801.jpg

(So you can play your mega drive, while you hit a "mega drive" up the fairway? :/ )

Was planning on taking a picture of myself imitating the pic of Arnold Palmer on the cartridge but I'm too knackered!

    Re: 60Hz Mod
Was having a look at that mod and couldn't get over how easy it is,
love the easily exploitable JP1-4 pads. :)

I got mixed up last night with the Multi Region Mod,
you actually need components for the 60Hz modification.

I have an American 9VDC 1A PSU which puts out 60Hz.

If I used this to power my PAL Megadrive would the clock run at the correct speed for 60Hz Games?

Of course, I'd be plugging it into my 240V - 110V step down transformer.

Too tired to do the math with clock signals and crystals, not that I have much knowledge about them anyways!

Afaik and I'm guessing here because I'm not too technically minded but the 50 60 hz is determined by the console and the mod is the same as the region one. At least on a mega drive model 1 it is.

Just snagged this before the price skyrocketed on eBay. :)

    Thanks for the reply!

Could of sworn I came across today that said you needed to solder a different crystal or something, unless I got confused with something else.

Turns out what I said about the JP pads last night was correct afterall,
I better delete the post not to be confusing people.
