Where to get cross-stitching framed?

    Hi,

    Could you advise me on where to go to get a cross-stitching framed?
    Either Dublin center or anywhere close to a Luas green line stop as I don't have a car.

    If you can get it properly blocked first you can get it done anywhere that frames pictures. You could block it yourself, there are lots of how to videos on youtube. I would not suggest you take it to an ordinary picture framing place unless they specifically say that they block embroidery/canvases.

    I agree

    it should be laced properly over archival mountboard or foamboard. no sticky tape or anything should be used


    it is also sometimes called stretching, but no real stretching is involved

    Will have a look at those videos, thanks for the tip.

    Do you know where I could buy the materials (board, etc...)? I'm sure I can find it online, but I would much prefer to go to a shop.

    As a matter of fact, are there any shops around here that will carry needlecraft supplies?

    This isn't a framer near you but it might give you an idea. I went to a framer in Galssan village (Westmeath) with a small piece of knitting that I wanted to mount. We choose a colored mounting board. He cut a piece to size for me and I brought that home. I drew out the area on the back of the board with a pencil then pierced it at regular intervals using a thumb tack. Then I stitched the knitting to the board through the little holes using a darning needle. I returned the piece to him to place the surrounding mounting board and I may frame it. Pehaps a framer in Dublin could do the same for you.
