Lost SIM overseas and call charges coming thru

My husband lost his SIM card while we were away and didn't realise until 3 days later when we got back to Ireland. He was pickpocketed around the same time but lost cash and not his wallet so did not realise sim was gone. He reported SIM was gone as soon as we arrived and he checked his unbilled data today and it shows calls were made from his SIM card. Billing data for roaming calls can take up to three months to show up on your bill and he's already been stung for 20euro. Do you know if we have ANY recourse in getting these charges dropped? Am totally freaking out thinking of billing to come. :( That is possibly three whole days of roaming calls made on the sim before it was blocked. I rang some of the numbers that were called and had no luck with any of them (language barrier and didn't really know what to ask to be honest).

    Anyone?

You would liable until you reported lost/stolen. What network is the sim for?
