Is there an SFX (Dublin) gigography listing all the bands/events who played there over the years?

All I know is that Megadeth played there in 2001, so did Slayer come to think about it, I'm afraid I know little else - having said that there's a Facebook site called Classic Dublin gigs with a lot of ticket stubs from the more high profile, heavier, bands who played the Top Hat and the SFX

Slayer played it in 1994 with Machine Head and Downset supporting,

Sepultura played in 1992 (with Paradise Lost?)

iron Maiden, Tool, Fear Factory, Anthrax, Body Count, Therapy?, Green Day, Foo Fighters, Deftones, Smashing Pumpkins, Type O Negative (with Stuck Mojo), Pantera, and Korn all played at various points.

That's a coincidence, i seen most of them exact same bands in the 80's in The Manchester/Liverpool area as grew up in North Wales.

Just wish i'd have kept all my old ticket stubs but i just didn't think for tomorrow in them days.

Would have loved to have paid at least 1 visit to Top Hat as heard so amny good things

yeah, that's my mate Luke's page, plenty of ticket stubs and photos there now......

the list is much longer than that lads.......

Manowar (loudest gig ever at the time I believe)

Metallica supported by Anthrax in 1986
Anthrax supported by Testament in 1987

@therecklessone - yep was Paradise Lost supporting Sepultura that night, cracking gig, Seps were on speed that night, sped up versions of Beneath The Remains songs was just brilliant......

I've been to a Nicko McBain drum clinic in there too.....was good craic...
pretty sure Maiden played there too on the X tour and couldn't sell it out....

you'll have no joy getting info from the previous owners as it was the nuns that owned it before it became Apartments......

I was at the Top Hat once........ but unfortunately it had mutated into The Fun Factory, was a kids play area and I was about 10 years old.

I was at a few of those gigs. Someone should have told Moby that scumbags on E's don't like Acoustic guitars.

Gigs I saw there:

Judas Priest, 1991
Extreme, 1992
Pantera, 1993
Therapy?, 1993
The Almighty, 1994
Anthrax, 1996
Iron Maiden, 1996
The Verve, 1997

As I recall, the only gigs from that list that were sold out were Pantera and also Extreme - and that was moved from the Point! Therapy? were doing two nights so the second one wasn't a sellout, The Almighty played to about 200 people, Maiden, Priest they were maybe half full. The Verve played to fairly good crowd but a year later they were headlining Slane (great in the SFX, poor at Slane).

It seemed like it was a big church hall with a huge stage...maybe it was. Good memories though!

I could be wrong but think The Tom Tom Club may have been there too.

Anyone on here remember The Ramones in the TV Club (Camden St?), early 80s. Supported by The Golden Hoarde ?

tom tom club gig was in mcgonagles.
i was at the ramones gig in the tv club (harcourt st)

Ramones played 2 nights??? in a row? love the ticket stubs, wish i kept mine.

always rem outside that night as Joey Ramone was coming out side door of TV Club into big black limo (limo? dublin 1980s??) was someone shouting out in a pure Dub accent behind me " Hey Joey, Get A Bleedin' Haircut!!!"

Yes, we share a lot of our music heritage. Some great gigs there in the early and mid 80s, with very little fuss or drama. I remember the very hippyish Waterboys supporting the Pretenders. I remember buying a £6 ticket for Simple Minds around 1983 from a tout for £9 - possibly the only time I've ever bought from a tout.

First gig i ever went to was Jesus Jones in the SFX, '90 or '91 it was.
Seen Therapy with Ash as support around '95, then Ash on their own the following year. Megadeth around the same time too.
First time seeing the Verve was there too, '97 as someone already said.
